In the light of the Theory of Variation and Change and Generative Phonology, in this study, aims to investigate the performance of a segment /R/ in the community of Porto da Rua (in the northern coast of Alagoas). The phonetic environment in which this realization occurs was determined, as well as the influence of extralinguistic factors analysed. The corpus for this research consisted of 48 informants among men and women born in the community. The categorization of data and statistical analysis were done using the package VARBRUL. Data were coded according to linguistic and social groups of factors (GF). The results indicated that the variant under study may be undergoing a process of linguistic change, since those responsible for spreading the informants are not in school and age over 50 years. Data collection was done through recordings with spontaneous narratives. This research deals with Applied Linguistics and its structure as a scientific field, in compliance with knowledge produced within the range of the Brazilian Congresses of Applied Linguistics (CBLA). The purpose of this research is to understand the meanings disclosed by the voices that make up the scientific discourse on this field, pointing toward its course of development, the ethical position that is peculiar to it and how this position is represented in its scientific practice. The scientific discourse typical of the production of knowledge of Applied Linguistics is now construed as leading to practices that define the production of this field of learning whose object is to study man and man s relationship to language. The focus of this research is the teaching of the Latin language. Due to the fact that its teaching has been facing a growing crisis in the last four decades, which currently persists, we ponder about external and internal causes of its decline, aiming at pointing out an alternative that enable us to find a way out of this situation. So, our research questions mainly concern how the teaching of Latin is viewed amongst the academic society, also investigating if it has kept up with the development of the scientific reflection about human language and the new approaches on language teaching. Furthermore, we analyse the contribution that the study of Latin can provide to the academic formation of language teachers and try to identify the areas of knowledge that can contribute to a reshaping of its teaching. The focus of this qualiquantitative research is the phenomenon we are denominating Drama-of-Rio-Grande-do-Norte, which contemplates short verse texts from the oral tradition, sung and presented on stage by women in communities on the south coast of the northeastern Brazilian State, Rio Grande do Norte. This tradition harkens to the medieval romance of the Iberian Peninsula (CASCUDO, 2001; GURGEL, 1999; GALVÃO, 1993; MAGALHÃES, 1973; ROMERO,1977). The objective of this research is to: identify what characterizes the genre Drama of Rio Grande do Norte; situate this genre within a systemization of genres from the oral tradition in Rio Grande do Norte; investigate the interpersonal relationships of power and solidarity through the role of the women in the discourse, how they see themselves and others, pointing out which elements of the world they evaluate and to identify representations of the feminine in the discourse. The studies of meaning brought many internal and external controversies to the Linguistics, since the early thoughts from Plato and Aristotle in the old Greece. In the twentieth century, such discussions were intensified and built a polarization, in which there were the ones who defended the relevance of the studies on meaning, and the ones who believed to be impossible to develop those researches. In addition, the Linguistic Historiography is the approach developed in this thesis, in order to interpret the work Structural Semantics` theoretical productivity from the author Algirdas Julien Greimas, one of the linguists who defended vehemently the importance and legitimacy of the meaning analysis. Moreover, this guideline is justified due to the pertinence of this work in the linguistics setting, highlighted in different texts that deal with it as a watershed in the language studies. A Linguística Histórica vem sendo cada vez mais explorada no campo dos estudos linguísticos. Com o auxílio dela, tratamos de processos fonológicos recorrentes na Língua Portuguesa, bem como de aspectos etimológicos, com base em nosso corpus de pesquisa. Este trabalho de cunho qualitativo aborda questões fonético-fonológicas sobre a monotongação au e ua > o ~ u em ditongos orais e nasais, procurando explicar como se deu esta transformação linguística de forma sincrônica e diacrônica, tendo também como base os parâmetros da Linguística Histórica. Buscou-se trabalhar com o respaldo nos acontecimentos e reconstruções na Língua Portuguesa e na comunidade de fala pesquisada, a Baixa, localizada na cidade de Uberaba, Minas Gerias. Assegura-se que a morfologia e os dados históricos auxiliam na colocação das hipóteses levantadas, revelando que as mudanças na língua tem um porquê, isto é, não ocorrem simplesmente ao acaso. Além dos estudos linguísticos referentes à monotongação, o léxico do corpus selecionado serviu para enriquecer o conhecimento acerca de um grupo de fala, relacionando linguística, cultura e história social de um povo. Esta tesis discute los resultados de una investigación-acción, longitudinal e interventora, llevada a cabo en una Institución de Enseñanza Superior en Goiás, con la participación de un grupo de Letras/ Español, y sus respectivas profesoras. A lo largo de los tres últimos años de la carrera, acompañamos el proceso de formación universitaria de los futuros profesores de Español como Lengua Extranjera (E/LE) para detectar las variables interventoras en la caracterización de su producción lingüística en la lengua meta. En ese período, echamos mano de diversos instrumentos de recogida de datos con los alumnos-participantes, tales como: cuestionarios (cualitativo y cuantitativo), narrativas autobiográficas, entrevistas grupal e individual, autoevaluación, reseña crítica, diario de campo y sesiones reflexivas. En cuanto a las profesoras-participantes, las entrevistamos al final de cada semestre lectivo con el propósito de aclarar las opiniones e informaciones de los estudiantes. This work focuses on Brazilian linguistic diversity and, within it, the Páno family, from which was pointed out, under the grammatical point of view, the operation of the case systems. The study consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion, bibliography and three appendices. Chapter 1 brings historical information on the linguistic diversity in Brazil at the time of the Portuguese incursion, the present situation of our languages, the methods for linguistic classification and its application on the Brazilian indigenous languages, and also aims at pointing out the importance of the descriptive linguistic studies of our autochthonous languages. Chapter 2 deals specifically with the Páno family, with the history of how the region where it is situated in South-West Amazonia was populated, with the various Páno people situated in Brazil, with classificatory efforts, with studies already carried out by Brazilian researchers, and also searches for establishing a vision of the genetic relationships between those different languages. En la presente investigación se analizará la producción de las revistas de Lingüística chilenas publicadas durante los años 2008-2010, pretendiendo establecer una aproximación a los aportes teóricos que puede brindar la Filosofía de la Ciencia para la caracterización de la producción en la disciplina y la interpretación de sus tendencias. La relación que ha tenido la Lingüística con esta área es escasa. Prueba de esto es la casi inexistente bibliografía en torno al tema, salvo contadas excepciones, tales como “Hacia una epistemología del lenguaje” de Sánchez Zabala (1972), el artículo “Lingüística Estructural y Filosofía de la Ciencia” de Emmon Bach, publicado en Diógenes (1965), y algunas otras referencias aisladas de los historiadores de la Lingüística como Malmberg (1967) y Mounin (1968- 1977). Since the 1970s many research groups have emerged in Brazil in the area of Sociolinguistics, seeking to investigate language in relation to social factors that distinguish different speech communities to deconstruct the idea of linguistic homogeneity. Many of the works have been based on variationist sociolinguistics (LABOV, 2008 [1972]), for which variation and change are inherent to languages, i.e., heterogeneous structures are part of the speakers’ linguistic competence, as a cultural phenomenon motivated by linguistic and extralinguistic factors. This paper aims to present the relationship existent between the standard Italian language, and the dialects used both in the language education of Italians living in Italy, and of Italians living in Brazil, to where they emigrated in search of better opportunities from the middle of the century XIX. This relationship is analyzed under the prism of different political and educational measures sanctioned by both countries, which somehow represent a subjective position on the language concept. Initially, the analysis was focused on how unstable such a relationship has been in Italy, varying from phases of great antagonism to phases of cooperation, since the dialects were used as a complementary tool in the teaching/learning process of the standard Italian language. Secondly, the analysis was focused on how this same relationship happened in the immigration context, particularly with regards to Brazil, where the Italian language and its dialects were mixed with Portuguese. This article addresses the conceptions of teaching and learning linguistic aspects present in activities of linguistic analysis elaborated by undergraduate students of a course in Languages (Portuguese and English) of a public university in the south of the Brazil. The rubrics herein analyzed are composed by 8 (eight) sets of activities of linguistic analysis, which were created by the students for the discipline of Supervised Practice on Portuguese Language Teaching. Our theoretical and methodological framework is based on the theoretical studies that initiated the reflection on linguistic analysis and language teaching in Brazil during the 80s (GERALDI, 1984, 1997; FRANCHI, 1991), as well as on recent researches in the area (MENDONÇA, 2006; REINALDO; BEZERRA, 2013). On the one hand, the analysis showed a conception of linguistic analysis that emphasizes language in use and a more reflective perspective of language. On the other hand, it showed that the traditional discourse of Portuguese language teaching was salient in some activities. Para essa análise, partiu-se de pressupostos teóricos que refutam a ideia de uma língua pura e homogênea. O aparato teórico-metodológico utilizado nessa análise tem por base o sistema de transitividade da Linguística Sistêmico-Funcional (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2004), mais especificamente, a metafunção ideacional, responsável pela expressão da experiência de mundo material ou de mundo interior de um enunciador. This paper aims at delineating a brief epistemological overview of the notion of subject in the theoretical science of language. Paying attention to epistemological movements proposed by Domingues (1999) in the humanities, it is proposed a discussion about the place of subject in the theoretical and conceptual Modern Linguistics field, from its foundation as a science, by Ferdinand de Saussure, passing through the generative theory, functionalist and enunciative proposes, until reaching the discourse theory proposed by Pêcheux, a theoretical space whose foundations about the notion of subject are the main point of discussion. Na realização deste mapeamento, tem-se como objetivos específicos: (i) categorizar as pesquisas nos modelos de análise da Linguística Contrastiva; (ii) identificar as instituições brasileiras onde se desenvolvem essas pesquisas e (iii) enquadrar as pesquisas conforme a abor dagem linguística empregada. Os dados foram obtidos no Banco de Teses da CAPES em novembro de 2011. O critério de busca (sem delimitação de data) usou os seguintes termos combinados: Linguística Contrastiva espanhol; Análise Contrastiva espanhol; Análise de erros espanhol; Interlíngua espanhol; Transfe rência espanhol Interfe rência espanhol e Fossilização espanhol. Encontraram-se 111 referências, e sua maior concentração está nas regiões Sul e Sudeste, que apresentam 27 e 64 pesquisas, respectivamente.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1984-8420.2009v10n1p73 O objetivo deste texto é fazer algumas reflexões, a partir de pressupostos sociolinguísticos, sobre certas questões que envolvem variação e mudança linguística, com implicações diretas no ensino da língua. Discutimos os seguintes tópicos: a língua como atividade social e as variedades linguísticas; a questão da norma, do valor social das formas variantes e do preconceito linguístico; e esboçamos algumas sugestões metodológicas para o ensino de gramática, considerando a diversidade linguística e o aprimoramento da competência comunicativa dos alunos. Esses tópicos são abordados tomando como pano de fundo um contraponto entre um ensino gramatical ‘tradicional’ e o papel social da escola, conforme proposto pelos Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais de Língua Portuguesa.  

Este trabalho tem por objetivo analisar cenas de atenção conjunta de uma díade em um contexto em que mãe e criança, com idade entre três e quatro anos, assistem ao desenho animado espanhol Pocoyo, dirigido a criança em idade pré-escolar. Partimos, portanto, da consideração de que o formato da atenção conjunta permanece na rotina infantil após a inserção na linguagem e pode contribuir para consolidação da referência linguística. A discussão teórica sobre a atenção conjunta baseia-se principalmente em Tomasello (1995, 2003, 2005, 2011), já sobre referência linguística, partimos das considerações de Blühdorn (1999) e Diessel (2006). Em nossas análises, além de percebermos que a estrutura interativa do desenho animado favorece o estabelecimento da atenção conjunta, notamos que, embora a criança integrante da díade analisada já tenha adquirido linguagem, o formato da atenção conjunta apresenta-se como uma estratégia ainda presente em sua rotina e contribui para a consolidação da referência linguística.
