The difficulties of software quality evaluation found during our activity in different projects and publications led us to investigate a systematic method for building domain-oriented quality models based on a sound empirical basis. General quality models need to be adapted to specific types of software products to be effective. Related literature reveals that existing quality models tend to suffer from poor empirical support. To overcome this situation, a review of applicable existing standards and related literature has enabled the generation of a basis for software quality models which can be adapted to specific application domains. The process, called DUMOD (Domain-oriented qUality MOdels Development), includes the collection of experts' opinions and the application of multivariate analysis techniques in order to eliminate redundant information and construct a validated model, more efficient and reliable. In this study, the empirical method to devise quality models for specific application domains is presented, as well as its application to a case study for security software products empirically validated by extensive collection of data from IT professionals.; 0,671 JCR (2010) Q3, posición 73 de 99 (Computer Science, Software Engineering)

Oils extracted from various species of Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus badjensis Beuzev & Welch, Eucalyptus badjensis x Eucalyptus nitens, Eucalyptus benthamii variety dorrigoensis Maiden & Cambage, Eucalyptus botryoides Smith, Eucalyptus dalrympleana Maiden, Eucalyptus fastigata Deane & Maiden, Eucalyptus nobilis L.A.S. Johnson & K. D. Hill, Eucalyptus polybractea R. Baker, Eucalyptus radiata ssp. radiata Sieber ex Spreng, Eucalyptus resinifera Smith, Eucalyptus robertsonii Blakely, Eucalyptus rubida Deane & Maiden, Eucalyptus smithii R. Baker, Eucalyptus elata Dehnh, Eucalyptus fraxinoides Deane & Maiden, E. obliqua L'Hér) were obtained by hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of essential oils was determined by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Essential oils were mainly composed of 1,8-cineole, alpha-pinene, alpha-terpineol, 4-terpineol, and p-cymene. Vapors from these essential oils and their major components were found to be toxic to Haematobia irritans (L.) (Diptera: Muscidae) adults. An aliquot of each oil was placed in a cylindrical test chamber, and the number of knocked down flies was recorded as a function of time. Knockdown time 50% was then calculated. Results showed that essential oil of E. polybractea had the highest knockdown activity of 3.44 min. A correlation was observed between the content of 1...

Garcia, O., Aluja, A., Garcia, L.F., Escorial, S. & Blanch, A. (2012). Zuckerman-Kuhlman-Aluja Personality Questionnaire (ZKA-PQ) and Cloningers Temperament and Character Inventory Revised (TCI-R): A comparative study. Scandinavian Journal of Psychology. The aim of this study was to compare the psychometric properties (normal distribution values, reliabilities and factor structure) of the Zuckerman-Kuhlman-Aluja Personality Questionnaire (ZKA-PQ) and the Temperament and Character Inventory revised (TCI-R). The total sample consisted of 482 subjects (53.1% men and 46.9% women) from diverse age. Results showed somewhat better psychometric properties, like reliability and facet-factor structure, for the ZKA-PQ than the TCI-R. The expected five-factor facet structure of the ZKA-PQ was clear found. However, the seven-factor structure of TCI-R was not clear and it did not show a clear distinction between Temperament and Character factors. When ZKA-PQ and TCI-R variables are analyzed together, the ZKA-PQ factors are related to the Character as well as the Temperament factors. In some cases they represent the opposite poles of ZKA-PQ factors; for example, Neuroticism versus Self-Directiveness and Aggression versus Cooperativeness. Some are directly and highly related to ZKA-PQ factors; for example...

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) is a frequent cause of morbimortality after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), and severely compromises patients' physical capacity. Despite the aggressive nature of the disease, aerobic exercise training can positively impact survival as well as clinical and functional parameters. We analyzed potential mechanisms underlying the recently reported cardiac function improvement in an exercise-trained cGVHD murine model receiving lethal total body irradiation and immunosuppressant treatment (Fiuza-Luces et al., 2013. Med Sci Sports Exerc 45, 1703-1711). We hypothesized that a cellular quality-control mechanism that is receiving growing attention in biomedicine, autophagy, was involved in such improvement. Our results suggest that exercise training elicits a positive autophagic adaptation in the myocardium that may help preserve cardiac function even at the end-stage of a devastating disease like cGVHD. These preliminary findings might provide new insights into the cardiac exercise benefits in chronic/debilitating conditions.

The introduction of information and communication technology (ICT) in education have provided a turning point in the teaching practice converting the calssroom in an area where have traditional learning tools and technological innovation elements. This paper deals about how ICT can be used in the development and improvement of skills of the subject 'Security in Robotics and Automation' as well as increasing the interaction between student and teacher. A study have performed to quantify the effectiveness of ICT in the classroom by comparing the results before and after the introduction of this...

There is compelling evidence that genetic factors influence several phenotype traits related to physical performance and training response as well as to elite athletic status. Previous case-control studies showed that ∼20 genetic variants seem to be associated with elite endurance athletic status. The present review aims to introduce novel methodological approaches in the field of sports genetics research, which can be applied in the near future to analyse the genotype profile associated with elite athletic status. These include genotype-phenotype association studies using gene expression analysis, analysis of post-transcriptional factors, particularly microRNAs, genome-wide scan linkage or genome-wide association studies, and novel algorithm approaches, such as 'genotype scores'. Several gaps in the current body of knowledge have been indentified including, among others: small sample size of most athletic cohorts, lack of corroboration with replication cohorts of different ethnic backgrounds (particularly, made up of non-Caucasian athletes), the need of research accounting for the potential role of epigenetics in elite athletic performance, and also the need for future models that take into account the association between athletic status and complex gene-gene and gene-environment interactions. Some recommendations are provided to minimize research limitations in the field of sport genetics.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the scientific literature regarding the use of acupuncture in the treatment of pain associated with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). Methods: By using electronic databases, the goal was to search and evaluate all the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in which acupuncture was used in the management of pain attributed to these clinical entities. For the meta-analysis, an adequate description of the results' statistical data was required along with a comparison of the treatment with a control group using a placebo or sham. Two independent reviewers evaluated the quality of the studies using the Jadad scale. Results: A total of 8 RCTs were selected, and the quality of only 4 was considered acceptable. These 4 studies showed positive results such as reducing pain, improving masticatory function, and increasing maximum interincisal opening. By combining the studies (n = 96) and analyzing the results, it was concluded that acupuncture is more effective than placebo in reducing pain intensity in TMD (standardized mean difference 0.83; 95% confidence interval, 0.41-1.25; P = 0.00012). Discussion: The results of this meta-analysis suggest that acupuncture is a reasonable adjunctive treatment for producing a short-term analgesic effect in patients with painful TMD symptoms. Although the results described are positive...

A systematic screening for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and varicella zoster virus (VZV) in HIV-positive adult immigrants in Spain was evaluated, and factors associated with MMR and VZV vaccines' indication were studied. Every HIV-positive immigrant was tested for VZV and MMR-IgG. MMR vaccine was indicated to patients with lymphocytes CD4+ >200 cells/mm³ and a negative measles-IgG, a negative mumps-IgG and/or a negative rubella-IgG. VZV vaccine was indicated to every VZV-IgG negative patient with CD4+ >400 cells/mm³. In total, 289 patients were screened; seroprevalence was 95.2%, 92.2%, 70.3% and 89.3% for VZV, measles, mumps and rubella IgG, respectively. Having a negative VZV-IgG was statistically associated with coming from sub-Saharan Africa (prevalence ratio [PR]: 6.52; 95% CI: 1.71-24.84; p=0.006), while having secondary education was a protective factor (PR: 0.25; 95% CI: 0.07-0.97; p=0.045). Fourteen patients (4.8%) had indication of VZV vaccine; vaccination was feasible in 21.4% of them at first visit. Eighty-one patients (29.7%) had indication of MMR vaccine, most of them due to mumps-IgG negative (53.1%) or rubella-IgG negative (24.7%). Age < 30 years at first visit was the only factor statistically associated with MMR vaccine indication (PR: 1.47; 95% CI: 1.02-2.11; p=0.04). According to CD4+ cell counts...

Naclerio, FJ, Colado, JC, Rhea, MR, Bunker, D, and Triplett, NT. The influence of strength and power on muscle endurance test performance. J Strength Cond Res 23(5): 1482-1488, 2009-The aim of this study was to determine the importance of muscular strength and power on a muscular endurance performance test. Fourteen firefighter recruits performed a progressive resistance test (PRT) followed by a specific maximum repetition test (MRT40) on the bench press exercise with measurements of power, strength, and muscular endurance. Comparisons were then made to examine relationships between the 3 muscular fitness variables. The results, expressed in absolute form and related to body weight, indicate that the performance in the MRT40 is significantly related (p <= 0.05) to body weight (r = 0.78), 1 repetition maximum (1RM) (r = 0.83), maximal power (Pmax) during the PRT (r = 0.71), Pmax produced with 40 kg in the PRT (r = 0.64), and the average power and force applied during all repetitions in the MRT40 (r = 0.78 and r =-0.64, respectively). The load that expressed the maximal average power during the PRT was 47.6 +/- 9.0% of the 1RM and did not show any significant relationship with 1RM nor performance in MRT40. It was concluded that performance in this specific upper body endurance test depends on several variables...

We analysed seven genetic polymorphisms that are candidates to explain individual variations in human endurance phenotypic traits, at least in Caucasian people (ACE Ins/Del, ACTN3 Arg577Ter, AMPD1 Gln12Ter, CKMM 1170 bp/985 + 185 bp, HFE His63Asp, GDF-8 Lys153Arg and PPARGC1A Gly482Ser) in 46 world-class endurance athletes and 123 controls (all Spanish Caucasians). Using the model developed by Williams & Folland we determined (1) the 'total genotype score' (TGS, from the accumulated combination of the seven polymorphisms, with a maximum value of '100' for the theoretically optimal polygenic score) in the non-athlete (control) group, in the athlete group and in the total Spanish population, and (2) the probability for the occurrence of Spanish individuals with the 'perfect' polygenic endurance profile (i.e. TGS = 100). The probability of a Spanish individual possessing a theoretically optimal polygenic profile for up to the seven candidate genetic polymorphisms we studied was very small, i.e. approximately 0.07% (or 1 in 1351 Spanish individuals). The mean TGS was higher in athletes (70.22 +/- 15.58) than in controls (62.43 +/- 11.45) and also higher than predicted for the total Spanish population (60.80 +/- 12.1), suggesting an overall more 'favourable' polygenic profile in the athlete group. However...

‘Governmentality’in the origins of European female PE and sport: the Spanish case study (1883–1936)

ENG
The purpose of the paper is twofold: (1) to contribute to the analysis of the origins of modern European female PE and sports from a power perspective, inspired by Foucault's work; and (2) to present a detailed analysis of female PE and sport in Spain (1883–1936) as a specific European case study. It is argued that these physical activities could be conceived in the Spanish case as part of a specific kind of ‘governmentality’ with a dual nature. On the one hand they represented disciplinary ‘technologies of power’ over the female body. Selected physical activities—dictated mainly from the hygienic-moral position of the Regeneracionistas (‘Regenerationists’)—were exerted as a kind of ‘bio-power’ for the control of the female population. On the other hand, such kind of activities (especially sports) represented certain ‘technologies of the self’ for middle and upper class women. Through participation in sports, women gained a more active and public role in the Spanish society of the era, obtaining some degree of autonomy in self-governance over their bodies and their lives.

We investigated the association of the angiotensin converting enzyme gene (ACE) insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism, alone or in combination with the α-actinin-3 gene (ACTN3) R577X polymorphism, with jumping (vertical squat and counter-movement jump tests) and sprint ability (30 m dash) in non-athletic, healthy young adults [N = 281 (214 male), mean (SD) age 21 (2) years]. We did not observe any effect of the ACE I/D polymorphism on study phenotypes. We repeated the analyses separately in men and women and the results did not materially change. Likewise, the mean estimates of the study phenotypes were similar in subjects with the genotype combinations ACE II + ID and ACTN3 XX or ACE DD and ACTN3 RR + RX. We found no association between the ACE DD and ACTN3 RR + RX genotype combination and performance (≥90th of the sex-specific percentile). In summary, though the ACE I/D polymorphism is a strong candidate to modulate some exercise-related phenotypes or athletic performance status, this polymorphism, alone or in combination with the ACTN3 R577X polymorphism, does not seem to exert a major influence in the muscle 'explosive' power of young healthy adults, as assessed during multi-joint exercise tests.

McArdle disease is caused by inherited deficit of human muscle glycogen phosphorylase with subsequent blockade in muscle glycogenolysis. Patients usually experience severe exercise intolerance and 'chronic' skeletal muscle damage. We determined circulating levels of 27 cytokines in a group of 31 adult McArdle patients (15 male 16 female; mean (+/-S.E.M.) age: 39+/-3 years) and 29 healthy sedentary controls (14 male, 15 female) before and after an acute exercise bout involving no muscle damage (cycling). Patients had an ongoing state of muscle breakdown even when following a sedentary lifestyle (serum creatine kinase activity at baseline of 2590+/-461 Ul(-1) vs. 97+/-5 Ul(-1) in controls). Under resting conditions, neutrophil count (+20%) and circulating levels of several cytokines were significantly higher (P

We study the effects of several variables on the prereproductive mortality pattern in the isolated and rural population of La Alpujarra, located on the western Mediterranean coast (southeast Spain), in the first half of the 20th century. The study is a retrospective analysis from a total sample of 2,200 deliveries, 2,085 of which were born alive and 171 of which did not survive to the 20th birthday. The potential influences of birthdate of children, twinning, firstborn, parental inbreeding, and sex on Alpujarran mortality were analyzed through logistic regression. Parity, family size, and birth interval effects were estimated through the difference between observed and expected mortality rates. In every case four age groups of mortality were considered because of the large influence of child growth: neonatal (less than 1 month of life), postneonatal infant (between 1 month and 1 year old), childhood (1-5 years old), and youth (5-20 years old). The Alpujarran prereproductive mortality pattern can be summarized as the result of three main risk factors: biodemographic, biomechanical, and social and health determinants. In general, every factor showed a decreased effect as children grew. The most significant determinants were birthdate of children...

D. H. Lawrence’s theatre: identity and naturalism in a Collier's Friday night

ENG
The aim of this paper is to describe the relation between identity and naturalism in D. H. Lawrence’s play A Collier’s Friday Night. Lawrence’s drama usually becomes a fusion of the autobiographical and the fictive, making a strenuous effort to become realistic and of social denounce. The paper also deals with the ideological connotations of the play, which has traditionally been seen as a highly naturalistic private drama, lacking of interest compared to Lawrence’s novels. The creative opportunities of generational, psychological or linguistic conflicts are described by Becket as ‘the inevitable opposition between male and female principles that co-exist within the individual’ (100); they make of the play a microcosm of the wider hegemonic normativity. The play’s educational component and its depiction of the economic relationships make of it an odd play. Its constrains reflect the fact that ‘nothing happens, yet the continual play of love and hate, the living process of young lives being moulded by the domestic and social and economic environment and asserting themselves against the pressures, controls the movement’ (Sagar 3). These pressures are often expressed physically, creating a sense of claustrophobia. The lack of dramatic climax make the audience perceive the ideological connotations when characters are forced also to return to their daily routines in an environment where women become perpetuators of the hegemonic values and also victims of them...
