The intervention of the speech therapist in the telemarketing presumes specific knowledge about the environment, social relationships, physical health and psychological aspects connected to the function of the telephone operator. The constant advancements of the technology harnessed to the competitiveness of this function require a continuous update from the employee while he seeks subsidies for the labor exercise attending his own, the company and the client expectations.

Texas Children’s Hospital is a pediatric tertiary care facility in the Texas Medical Center with a large-scale, Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)-compliant picture archival and communications system (PACS) installation. As our PACS has grown from an ultrasound niche PACS into a full-scale, multimodality operation, assuring continuity of clinical operations has become the number one task of the PACS staff. As new equipment is acquired and incorporated into the PACS, workflow processes, responsibilities, and job descriptions must be revised to accommodate filmless operations. Round-the-clock clinical operations must be supported with round-the-clock service, including three shifts, weekends, and holidays. To avoid unnecessary interruptions in clinical service, this requirement includes properly trained operators and users, as well as service personnel. Redundancy is a cornerstone in assuring continuity of clinical operations. This includes all PACS components such as acquisition, network interfaces, gateways, archive, and display. Where redundancy is not feasible, spare parts must be readily available. The need for redundancy also includes trained personnel. Procedures for contingency operations in the event of equipment failures must be devised...

This study investigates the mediating impact of organizational commitment on the relationship between organizational stressors and employee health and well-being. Data were collected from 401 operator level employees working in business process outsourcing organizations (BPOs) based in New Delhi, India. In this research several dimensions from ASSET, which is an organizational stress screening tool, were used to measure employee perceptions of stressors, their commitment to the organization, their perception of the organization’s commitment to them, and their health and well-being. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling on AMOS software. Results of the mediation analysis highlight both employee commitment to their organization and their perceptions of the organization’s commitment to them mediate the impact of stressors on physical health and psychological well-being. All indices of the model fit were found to be above standard norms. Implications are discussed with the view to improving standards of health and well-being within the call center industry, which is a sector that has reported higher turnover rates and poor working conditions among its employees internationally.

We introduce notions of open-string vertex algebra, conformal open-string vertex algebra and variants of these notions. These are open-string-theoretic,'' noncommutative'' generalizations of the notions of vertex algebra and of conformal vertex algebra. Given an open-string vertex algebra, we show that there exists a vertex algebra, which we call the meromorphic center,'' inside the original algebra such that the original algebra yields a module and also an intertwining operator for the meromorphic center. This result gives us a general method for constructing open-string vertex algebras. Besides obvious examples obtained from associative algebras and vertex (super)algebras, we give a nontrivial example constructed from the minimal model of central charge c=1/2. We establish an equivalence between the associative algebras in the braided tensor category of modules for a suitable vertex operator algebra and the grading-restricted conformal open-string vertex algebras containing a vertex operator algebra isomorphic to the given vertex operator algebra. We also give a geometric and operadic formulation of the notion of grading-restricted conformal open-string vertex algebra, we prove two isomorphism theorems, and in particular, we show that such an algebra gives a projective algebra over what we call the Swiss-cheese partial operad.''; Comment: 53 pages

In the present paper we study tensor C*-categories with non-simple unit realised as C*-dynamical systems (F,G,\beta) with a compact (non-Abelian) group G and fixed point algebra A := F^G. We consider C*-dynamical systems with minimal relative commutant of A in F, i.e. A' \cap F = Z, where Z is the center of A which we assume to be nontrivial. We give first several constructions of minimal C*-dynamical systems in terms of a single Cuntz-Pimsner algebra associated to a suitable Z-bimodule. These examples are labelled by the action of a discrete Abelian group (which we call the chain group) on Z and by the choice of a suitable class of finite dimensional representations of G. Second, we present a construction of a minimal C*-dynamical system with nontrivial Z that also encodes the representation category of G. In this case the C*-algebra F is generated by a family of Cuntz-Pimsner algebras, where the product of the elements in different algebras is twisted by the chain group action. We apply these constructions to the group G = SU(N).; Comment: 34 pages; References updated and typos corrected. To appear in International Journal of Mathematics

We give a complete characterization of connected Lie groups with the Approximation Property for groups (AP). To this end, we introduce a strengthening of property (T), that we call property (T*), which is a natural obstruction to the AP. In order to define property (T*), we first prove that for every locally compact group G, there exists a unique left invariant mean on the space of completely bounded Fourier multipliers of G. A locally compact group G is said to have property (T*) if this mean is a weak* continuous functional. After proving that the groups SL(3,R), Sp(2,R), and the universal covering of Sp(2,R) have property (T*), we address the question which connected Lie groups have the AP. A technical problem that arises when considering this question from the point of view of the AP is that the semisimple part of the global Levi decomposition of a connected Lie group need not be closed. Because of an important permanence property of property (T*), this problem vanishes. It follows that a connected Lie group has the AP if and only if all simple factors in the semisimple part of its Levi decomposition have real rank 0 or 1. Finally, we are able to establish property (T*) for all connected simple higher rank Lie groups with finite center.; Comment: 17 pages

In the present paper we prove a duality theory for compact groups in the case when the C*-algebra A, the fixed point algebra of the corresponding Hilbert C*-system (F,G), has a nontrivial center Z and the relative commutant satisfies the minimality condition A.'\cap F = Z as well as a technical condition called regularity. The abstract characterization of the mentioned Hilbert C*-system is expressed by means of an inclusion of C*-categories T_\c < T, where T_\c{i}s a suitable DR-category and T a full subcategory of the category of endomorphisms of A. Both categories have the same objects and the arrows of T can be generated from the arrows of T_\c{a}nd the center Z. A crucial new element that appears in the present analysis is an abelian group C(G), which we call the chain group of G, and that can be constructed from certain equivalence relation defined on G^, the dual object of G. The chain group, which is isomorphic to the character group of the center of G, determines the action of irreducible endomorphisms of A when restricted to Z. Moreover, C(G) encodes the possibility of defining a symmetry $\epsilon$ also for the larger category T of the previous inclusion.; Comment: Final version appeared in Int. J. Math. 15 (2004) 759-812. This paper is devoted to the eigenvalue problem for the quantum Gaudin system. We prove the universal correspondence between eigenvalues of Gaudin Hamiltonians and the so-called G-opers without monodromy in general gl(n) case modulo a hypothesys on the analytic properties of the solution of a KZ-type equation. Firstly we explore the quantum analog of the characteristic polynomial which is a differential operator in a variable $u$ with the coefficients in U(gl(n))^{\otimes N}. We will call it "universal G-oper". It is constructed by the formula "Det"(L(u)-\partial_u) where L(u) is the quantum Lax operator for the Gaudin model and "Det" is appropriate definition of the determinant. The coefficients of this differential operator are quantum Gaudin Hamiltonians obtained by one of the authors (D.T. hep-th/0404153). We establish the correspondence between eigenvalues and $G$-opers as follows: taking eigen-values of the Gaudin's hamiltonians on the joint eigen-vector in the tensor product of finite-dimensional representation of gl(n) and substituting them into the universal G-oper we obtain the scalar differential operator (scalar G-oper) which conjecturally does not have monodromy. We strongly believe that our quantization of the Gaudin model coincides with quantization obtained from the center of universal enveloping algebra on the critical level and that our scalar G-oper coincides with the G-oper obtained by the geometric Langlands correspondence...

## Laplace Transformations of Submanifolds

Chen, Bang-Yen; Verstraelen, Leopold
Let $x : M \to E^m$ be an isometric immersion of a Riemannian manifold $M$ into a Euclidean $m$-space. Denote by $\Delta$ the Laplace operator of $M$. Then $\Delta$ gives rise to a differentiable map $L :M \to E^m$, called the Laplace map, defined by $L(p)=(\Delta x)(p)$, $p\in M$. We call $L(M)$ the Laplace image, and the transformation $L :M \to L(M)$ from $M$ onto its Laplace image $L(M)$ the {\it Laplace transformation}. In this monograph, we provide a fundamental study of the Laplace transformations of Euclidean submanifolds.; Comment: 126 pages.
