The article analyses the training of teachers by normal schools in Sao Paulo from 1890 to 1931, period guided by the adoption in the school system of ideas of the Republican Enlightenment. According to the spirit of federation that took over the country and the Enlightenment ideas, aligned with the positivism and the liberal conceptions, the public school should be improving and expanding. The normal schools were the ideal institutions for such training and at the same time...

The scientific community is consensual about the importance of an appropriate training for teachers and also adheres to the idea that is needed a greater appreciation of teachers. Considering these aspects, it is imperative to discuss the political, epistemological and pedagogical aspects of this training, in order to enable a critical understanding about this subject. Moreover, from the perspective of diversity, we held a discussion on the training of science teachers for Inclusion and the difference as a characteristic of the human species and that this, by itself, has already advocated in favor of school inclusion. Investigated as a Higher Education Institution in Jataí, Goiás (IES/Jataí) has been preparing to respond to the prospect of inclusive education in relation to its training courses for science professors (Biology, Physics, Math and Chemistry) and to receive students with disabilities. For this, we conducted a case study in undergraduate couses in Biology, Physics, Math and Chemistry through the use of questionnaires, interviews and analysis of these Pedagogical Projects Courses (PPC). The data were analyzed based on content analysis and qualitative analysis. Our results show that although most teachers have proved receptive to the proposals of Inclusive Education (IE)...

The inclusion of students with disabilities in the regular school is a right provided for in the Federal Constitution and led, in many cases, a reorganization of that institution. Because they are the teachers the main professionals working with these students, his training becomes part key to improving the quality of education, having as the principle that everyone can come to receive students with disabilities in their classrooms said regular. Based on the theoretical framework of Pletsch (2009), Carvalho (2009), Mantoan (2006), Machado (2009) and Mittler (2003), this dissertation seeks to identify as there is the formation of teachers who work with students included and the perception of these about inclusion. The methodological process was routed through open interviews with four (04) teachers from early years of a State School, located in Pelotas/RS. The results show that, in general, the teachers did not have No preparation for dealing with the inclusion during the initial training, and training was given, especially when they had contact with the classes with students included. The main alternative training were by means of Information Technologies, pedagogical meetings held in the school and the presence of a teacher specialist for existing support that allowed them to converse and remedy doubts. Another point highlighted was referring to what we call for continued training institutionalized and continued training non-institutionalized. The first character with more individual and informal and the second...

This paper examines the impact of a large supply-side education intervention in the Philippines, the Third Elementary Education Project, on students' national achievement test scores. It finds that the program significantly increased student test scores at grades 4 to 6. The estimation indicates that two-year exposure to the program increases test scores by about 4.5 to 5 score points. Interestingly, the mathematics score is more responsive to the education reform than are other subjects. The analysis also finds that textbooks, instructional training of teachers, and new classroom construction particularly contributed to these outcomes. The empirical results imply that early-stage investment improves student performance at later stages in the elementary school cycle, which suggests that social returns to such an investment are greater than what the current study demonstrates.

The study of Modern and Contemporary Physics -FMC- secondary education is very important because it allows students to hold discussions with the physical phenomena behind the operation of devices that are used so commonplace in everyday vast majority of people. However, the teaching of physics in high school has not followed the scientific and technological advances in the past decades and has been far from the reality of students. A curriculum obsolete, outdated and decontextualized poses a problem for both teachers and for students and makes teaching practice, which usually boils down to the mathematical development in the context of chalk, dull and uninteresting. The students' previous ideas coexist with scientific concepts, both in high school students, as we graduate, and persisting even after graduation. Mortimer in seeking to understand this coexistence configures the idea of "conceptual profile" from the observation of the historical development of a scientific concept in view of their obstacles epistemological and ontological. In this paper we address the conceptual profile Zaïane presented by radiation from the perspective of recognizing this coexistence in the initial training of teachers of physics. We believe that this profile may be able to provide an understanding of the physical universe...

It is understood that the discipline of Geography has in school, in combination with other curriculum subjects, a role to play in the formation of students. For this reason, it is considered that the institutions of initial training must provide certain basic knowledge for which the future teachers can work with autonomy and make the discipline Geography significant for their students. For this to happen there is a need to adopt new didacticpedagogical practices that leverage the knowledge construction of teaching future teachers. This knowledge becomes necessarily by the capacity that the future teacher needs to have for the linkage between the knowledge of specific subjects and the pedagogical. To reflect about this the study has as theme the initial training of teachers and as object the knowledge teachers of students in the process of initial training in Degree in Geography of Pedagogical University of Mozambique. The overall objective is to understand the process of construction/mobilization of knowledge teachers of students of degree in Geography and the formative practices that potentiate. In this paper we addressed aspects of the disciplines “Curricular Training” and “Didactics” in the Pedagogy Course in training of teachers. The main objective is to emphasize upon submission of the work that we do in our teaching practice in the mentioned disciplines, the importance of linking the theory and the practice in training of teachers so that the teaching in the university it is not decontextualized but enriched with the issues of everyday school life. In this sense, we address, initially, the aspects of the Curricular training as a mediator link of the learning, of the articulation of the curriculum and of the practices and, in this view, as a productive conduit between the university and the basic education, stressing the need for the reception of the contribution that each institutions within its specificity, must provide in the training courses. In sequence, we present aspects of the structure of the work we do with our students in Early Childhood Education Curricular Training. Finally, are detailed the aspects of a Didactics for the teachers of early childhood education and for the early years of Fundamental Education, focusing on narratives of in-service teachers on their experiences teaching in search of new systematization of pedagogical practice and on by own teachers.; http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/198464444094 Neste artigo enfocamos aspectos das disciplinas do curso de Pedagogia “estágio curricular” e “didática” na formação de professores. http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/198464444493 O presente texto se propõe a abordar, mesmo que brevemente, a temática da invenção no âmbito da formação de professores.

peer-reviewed; The Schools IT2000 initiative, launched in 1997, was the first large-scale attempt to integrate ICT into teaching and learning in the Irish education system. Prior to its launch computer use in Irish schools was inhibited by the absence of a clearly defined policy. During the 1990s, in the absence of a national policy, schools began to develop IT skills type courses resulting in the dominance of the acquisition of basic IT skills at post-primary level ref? The sporadic use of ICT in post-primary schools was reflected in a number of studies conducted in the nineties, which found considerable differences in the level of exposure students received to ICT. These studies also found little use of ICT in teaching and learning (McKenna et al, 1993; Drury, 1995; Mulkeen, 1997). In response to the low levels of use across the curriculum a central aim of the Schools IT2000 initiative was to provide in-service to all teachers to enable them to develop the necessary skills to integrate ICT in teaching and learning. In order to achieve this aim a training continuum was developed with the objective of enabling teachers to progress from novice to expert users of information technology in education. Short-term in-service courses were initially offered to all post-primary teachers in the state. These courses introduced basic IT skills and to date have trained 59% of post-primary teachers in the basic use of ICT (NPADC...

Based on the premise that the practical dimension must be consideredin the initial training of teachers, we understand that curricular training, ifwell founded, structured and oriented, is relevant to the curricular outlook ofthe practical training process for future teachers. This article presents somereflections and discussions, stemming from a qualitative investigation, aboutthe importance of the role of curricular training in the practical preparationof the students. The subjects of this research are students who have finishedthe Teacher Training Course at the University of Paraíba Valley (UNIVAP).Based on the interpretation of different authors (LIMA, 2001; TARDIF,2002; PIMENTA, 2001; GÓMEZ, 2000), we understand practice as praxis, since, in being permeated by a process of reflection, it can be constructedand reconstructed, with a view of transforming the school. Thus we see thepractical learning considered to have been achieved during the training in thereports presented and in the students’ discourse. We analyze the data collected,in the light of the theory studied on the practical and professional trainingof teachers. We identify the favorable and unfavorable aspects of practicalcurricular training from the space/time point of view...

Educational transformation in South Africa not only brought about Outcomes- based Education and Curriculum 2005 but also a new Learning Area/Subject, called Life Orientation (LO). A major challenge for LO as a new Learning Area/Subject is the preconceptions that exist about it, and the fact that the attitude of school principals is not conducive to the successful implementation of LO. Against this background it was deemed necessary to investigate teachers' perspectives regarding the implementation of LO in Grades R to 11. For the survey 248 schools (124 primary, 124 secondary) were randomly selected, of which 157 returned questionnaires. Summary statistics were done using frequency tables and histograms. Comparisons of ordinal variables were performed using one-way analysis of variance and the Kruskal-Wallis non- parametric test. For the majority of the schools the learning outcomes, related to the movement component of LO in the General and Further Education and Training bands, are presented. The fact that most of the schools do not have qualified Physical Education teachers holds certain implications for the status of LO in general and more specifically for the growth and development of the learners. To address this situation it is recommended that in-service and pre- service education and training of teachers commences immediately and that Higher Education Institutions become more involved in different forms of training initiatives than currently the practice.
