Com o objetivo de desenvolver diversos olhares e possibilidades sobre ensino e aprendizagem na formação de pós-graduandos para a docência na Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, em 2001 foi introduzida uma atividade de tecnologia de informação e comunicação. Esta atividade constitui uma oportunidade para os pós-graduandos aplicarem alguns recursos de informática e conhecerem o benefício da multidisciplinaridade, além de demonstrarem suas habilidades de criatividade e planejamento ao desenvolverem uma aula virtual. Ao final, os pós-graduandos avaliam a atividade com relação às características mais importantes e às dificuldades encontradas, emitindo comentários e sugestões. No contexto do ensino, a Tecnologia da Informação e Comunicação (TIC) assume um importante papel em termos de apoio pedagógico com o intuito de auxiliar na melhoria da estrutura básica da educação. O acesso a novas tecnologias traz formas diferentes de aprender e pensar, para professores, alunos e instituições de ensino. A incorporação das tecnologias nas escolas contribui para expandir o acesso à informação atualizada e, principalmente, para promover a criação de comunidades colaborativas de aprendizagem que privilegiam a construção do conhecimento, a comunicação, a formação continuada e a gestão articulada entre as áreas administrativa e pedagógica da escola. Since the 1990s, information and communication technology (ICT) has been perceived as the critical technology for economic development, and the ICT industry itself has been growing exceptionally fast. Moreover, technology convergence in ICT has received particular attention. ICT innovations diffuse into existing products and thus come to form a new integral part of the goods. This is an exploratory research to examine technology convergence of the supply side as a firm level in the ICT sector using International Patent Classification (IPC) of 43,636 sample patents from 1995 to 2008. This study finds a degree of merger and relationships between different technology domains through the association rule mining of patent co-classification. This type of analysis helps companies to take strategies under the environment of technological trajectory change.

Sie bewegt sich im Feld politischer Steuerung in Forschung und Entwicklung und analysiert die Absichten verschiedener Projektförderer zur Errichtung von Steuerungsregimes beim IKT-Einsatz in der Bildung. Steuerungsregimes sind darauf gerichtet, Beziehungsnetzwerke zwischen staatlichen Akteuren, der Wissenschaft und der Wirtschaft zu etablieren, um die Transferleistung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse und deren Umsetzung in Wirtschaftsgüter zu verbessern. RESUMEN El uso de aplicaciones interactivas educativas se ha convertido en uno de los temas de actualidad con mayor relevancia en estos últimos años por la importancia que las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación están cobrando en nuestra sociedad. Este trabajo se ha diseñado con el fin de realizar un análisis teórico y práctico del uso de la tecnología en las aulas, concretamente mediante el empleo de la Pizarra Digital Interactiva y de las aplicaciones educativas interactivas. Para ello, se ha realizado una breve retrospectiva sobre el origen y situación de las Tic en la era digital. También, se ha abordado el tema a partir de algunos estudios realizados acerca de las nuevas tecnologías en el aula, como el realizado por el profesor Pere Marquès, y se ha llevado a cabo un acercamiento al funcionamiento y beneficios de aplicaciones ya existentes. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have become an everyday part of life. Communication networks within Australia link financial, educational, government and non-government services to Australian households. Both the 2001 and 2006 Australian Census data demonstrate that Indigenous Australians are 69% less likely to access the Internet at home than the rest of the Australian population. This study examines the factors affecting the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in Australian Indigenous households and provides a plausible explanation as to why this gap exists. This study uses a multiple case study approach and draws on the Glaserian Grounded Theory Methodology to examine Indigenous household ICT adoption in a rural Indigenous community, an urban Indigenous community and a remote Indigenous community, to identify differences and commonalities of ICT adoption and non-adoption in diverse cultural and geographical locations across Australia. The theoretical lens draws on Pierre Bourdieu's theory of habitus to develop a practice perspective of household ICT adoption established through the habitus concepts of structures and agency or society and individual. The research establishes the existence of the Indigenous substantive field and postulates that new practices are formed with the intersection of the Indigenous field and external fields. Through the development of substantive fields this thesis develops a theoretical framework of Indigenous household ICT adoption. This report is part of an ongoing study of the measurement of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector of Egypt's economy. This report forms part of the second amendment to a reimbursable technical assistance (RTA) program delivered by the Global Information and Communication Technology (GICT) department of the World Bank to the Information Centre of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT-IC) of the government of Egypt. This report outlines the results of a several visits to the region, a survey conducted, and methods of data collection. The objectives were: to analyze the new results of the FDI questionnaire and make recommendations to refine the methodology and sampling framework; to generate an estimate of the true level of FDI in Egypt's ICT sector, and to continue work towards establishing an ongoing process for the regular data collection and reporting of FDI data by providing training and relevant tools, in collaboration with relevant ministries and other institutions.

The purpose of this mixed methods study was to document and examine the beliefs held by preservice elementary teachers prior to entering a teacher education program concerning the nature of mathematics and their perceptions about the effective use of information and communication technology (ICT) for mathematics instruction. Through an online questionnaire (N=132) followed by interviews of purposefully selected respondents (n=8), the following questions were addressed: (1) What beliefs do preservice elementary mathematics teachers hold upon entering teacher education programs regarding the nature of mathematics? (2) What beliefs do preservice elementary mathematics teachers hold upon entering teacher education programs about how ICT should be used in the classroom? and (3) How do preservice elementary mathematics teachers’ beliefs about the nature of mathematics relate to their views about the use of ICT in teaching mathematics? Video-elicitation was used in the interviews to determine how respondents perceived various uses of interactive whiteboards. Respondents were grouped based on their beliefs about the nature of mathematics and their reactions to the videos that they were shown. Despite the lack of substantial evidence for improvement in the quality of teaching and learning with information and communication technology (ICT), governmental organizations, including those of Canada and Australia, have made large investments into ICT. This investment has been largely predicated on the hypothesized relationship between ICT and science achievement, and the need for ICT as a means of providing broad-scale training to meet the demand for a skilled workforce. To better understand this possible relationship, this study used data from the 2006 administration of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA 2006) to determine the extent to which scientific literacy is predicted by student- and school-level variables related to ICT, after adjusting for student demographic characteristics and school characteristics. The findings suggest that, once student demographic characteristics and school characteristics have been accounted for, students with prior experience with ICT, who browse the Internet more frequently, and who are confident with basic ICT tasks earned higher scientific literacy scores. In this paper we present an econometric model to determine whether an SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprise)'s probability of outsourcing depends on their levels of innovation and information and communication technology use. The predictions of the econometric model are tested by means of a LOGIT model using a cross section sample of an Argentinean SME for the year 2006. The model predicts that the level of innovation of an SME will significantly influence its probability of outsourcing. Besides, it stresses the negative incidence of the information and communication technologies (ICT) access on the outsourcing decision.

The integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and multimedia within History teaching and learning is an outcome of the curriculum of the National Education Department of South Africa. History lessons for the classroom situation can become more active and learner-centred, slowing the widening gap between South Africa and the developed world with respect to ICT integration and the use of multimedia resources in History teaching and learning at schools. The purpose of this article is to show teachers where to locate sources and resource materials that can be used in History lessons, inform teachers on some of the History-related features of each website, and expose teachers to the use of new teaching strategies aided by the Internet. High-tech TLSM possibilities can promote greater integration of ICT and multimedia into History lessons to improve a broader understanding of content and enhance quality teaching.
