Nesse sentido...

This paper presents the basis of the Agile Governance in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), which is based on Agile Software Engineering Methodologies principles and values. Its development was done through a systematic review process, supported by Bibliometrics and Scientometrics methods and techniques, where the Critical Success Factors (CSF) of ICT Governance projects and the principles of the Agile Manifesto were analyzed. Next, through an inductive approach, focused on the convergence between the concepts involved, it was analyzed how agile principles could help to minimize the gap between ICT and business. Evidences of their occurrence were taken through a Conceptual Survey Research. As a result, the foundations and concepts of Agile Governance in ICT were defined and, finally, the development of a reference model was proposed as a future work.

Urban poverty is a complex socio-economic problem. The expected doubling of the urban population relative to rural areas by 2050 without a corresponding economic and infrastructure growth will worsen the problem, especially in emerging economies. Poor urban residents face rising unemployment and underemployment, constrained access to financial services, market exploitation, poor housing, crime, unsatisfactory health services and scant education opportunities. Several players have attempted to address these problems through information and communication technologies. This paper isolated a few of these to determine critical success factors on the economic empowerment front.

In this summary report and a series of country case studies, infoDev is exploring the transformative role that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can have in post-conflict nations during the process of reconstruction. The case studies look at countries at different stages of post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan, Liberia, Rwanda and Timor-Leste, and post-revolution in Tunisia. The report examines how policy-makers, the donor community, and the private sector have prioritized and sequenced ICT initiatives in the aftermath of conflict. In addition, the report proposes a conceptual framework to understand how ICTs can contribute to improving service delivery and assisting with nation-building. The opening chapter of the report gives an overview of the relationship between conflict, reconstruction and the role of ICTs. It builds on experience within the Bank as well as on a wide range of practitioner, academic and other literature. The second chapter seeks to establish a framework for understanding the ways in which ICTs interact with societies in transition from violence to stability, and for leveraging their potential to further that transition. The roots of this lie in understanding two fields of study...

The integration of Information and communication technologies (ICT) requires the teachers to be competent, both technologically and pedagogically. In this work, the competences in ICT of teachers are studied, in particular the relationship between the technological competences and the pedagogical competences. For it, it has been used a survey design and a sample, randomly selected, of the non university teachers of the Comunidad Valenciana, to those that have been applied a questionnaire. It has found a significant relationship between technological competences and pedagogical competences in the sense that the former represent both a base as a facilitator of the latter. This means that the teachers must know the TIC to integrate them in their daily practice.

Nowadays, e-learning, teleformation, or training based on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), play a fundamental role in the improvement of the learning processes that is taking place at the Universities. On the one hand, the incorporation of the ICT in a face-to-face, distance or blended modality and, on the other hand, the European convergence process, have influenced on the change and improvement of the institution, in general, and the teaching leaming process developed in Higher Education, in particular. Nevertheless, it could be necessary to remark that the basic objective is to improve the attention of the users (in our case, students of Education Sciences). Another important aim is to optimize the resources based on Internet. But, mainly, in order to promote innovating processes which simplify and make agile not only the work of the teaching staff and students but also the communication among them. The purpose of this paper is to find out if pre-service teachers prefer a virtual modality during the Practicum period, when they finish their studies on Education.

The main aim of this study is to contribute knowledge about the impact of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) on the self-concept, mood, and quality of life of institutionalized older adults in retirement homes and day care centers (Portuguese institutions). It also studies the influence of independent variables such as age; education; referral to the institution (own initiative, indicated by friends, indicated by family, indicated by social security); attendance schedule; and visits from family and friends. The study comprised 41 participants organized into two groups: 22 older adults in the ICT Group and 19 older adults in the Passive Control Group. There were three evaluation periods: before the onset of intervention and 11 and 22 months after intervention began. The results demonstrate that involvement with information and communication technologies produced positive effects on older adults’ social behavior and their self-perception of physical and environment facets of quality of life. Moreover, they suggest that there is a relationship between psychosocial variables and independent variables.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have become an everyday part of life. Communication networks within Australia link financial, educational, government and non-government services to Australian households. Both the 2001 and 2006 Australian Census data demonstrate that Indigenous Australians are 69% less likely to access the Internet at home than the rest of the Australian population. This study examines the factors affecting the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies in Australian Indigenous households and provides a plausible explanation as to why this gap exists. This study uses a multiple case study approach and draws on the Glaserian Grounded Theory Methodology to examine Indigenous household ICT adoption in a rural Indigenous community, an urban Indigenous community and a remote Indigenous community, to identify differences and commonalities of ICT adoption and non-adoption in diverse cultural and geographical locations across Australia. The theoretical lens draws on Pierre Bourdieu's theory of habitus to develop a practice perspective of household ICT adoption established through the habitus concepts of structures and agency or society and individual. The research establishes the existence of the Indigenous substantive field and postulates that new practices are formed with the intersection of the Indigenous field and external fields. Through the development of substantive fields this thesis develops a theoretical framework of Indigenous household ICT adoption. The findings suggest that a single model of ICT adoption can be applied to all Indigenous communities across Australia. The results could have considerable practical and policy significance.; Supervisor - Associate Professor Walter Fernandez; Yes

Technological innovation drives economic progress. Information and communication technologies (ICT) can be leveraged for development, but harnessing this potential depends on an enabling environment for their production, diffusion, and use. Otherwise, technology can widen rather than narrow existing inequalities. Over the past decade developing countries have seen rapid but uneven growth in ICT access and use. The unprecedented spread of mobile technologies, driven by private sector investment and supported by reforms to promote competition, enabled the growth of phone services for the underserved and poor to levels unseen before. But outside mobile telephony, large gaps exist in high-speed Internet access and broadband connectivity and in the diffusion and use of ICT in business, services, and government the areas where ICT can deliver the largest developmental impacts. The World Bank Group's strategy has sought development results in ICT by promoting (i) sector reform, (ii) access to information infrastructure...

In this paper we present an econometric model to determine whether an SME (Small and Medium Sized Enterprise)'s probability of outsourcing depends on their levels of innovation and information and communication technology use. The predictions of the econometric model are tested by means of a LOGIT model using a cross section sample of an Argentinean SME for the year 2006. The model predicts that the level of innovation of an SME will significantly influence its probability of outsourcing. Besides, it stresses the negative incidence of the information and communication technologies (ICT) access on the outsourcing decision.

Innovation, in health services in general and in hospitals in particular, has been studied intensely in recent years, evidencing the growing interest of researchers in the subject. In the literature, there is a consensus amongst scholars regarding the complex and dynamic nature of innovation in health services, particularly regarding the determinants and the changes resulting from innovation. Therefore, an understanding of innovation in its entire spectrum helps to identify factors that affect the innovation process and its effects on hospital organizations, particularly in the adoption of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Thus, the article describes the adoption of innovations supported by ICT and its determinants in three hospitals. The research, of a qualitative nature, was based on 11 interviews and analyzed barriers, facilitators, benefits and future challenges for three innovations: the Intensive Care Unit Management System, Electronic Patient Records and the Intelligent Surgery Room. The highlighted barriers in the survey were: resistance to the use of, and lack of knowledge about, new technologies. Conversely, the main facilitators were: the commitment of the high-level administration and communication between teams. The most important benefits were: decreases in errors of diagnosis...

In this study, an investigation of 231 articles of the oral communication sections presented at the National Symposium on Physics Teaching (NSPT) was conducted, trying to identify those related to Information and Communication Technology (ICT), its form of organization, the involved thematic areas and the degree of teaching, allowing to compare the different perspectives and trends in this field. The conducted state of the art-study had a bibliographical character and qualitative contours involving content analysis. It was realized that the thematic area “Information technology, technology diffusion and Physics teaching”, where most of the research related to ICT is concentrated, represent 11.7% of the total number of papers at the XIX NSPT, confirming a trend of research in this area. It was found, among other things, the predominance of studies where learning objects are used in Physics Education, especially in High School and University Education; the use of ICT in multidisciplinary work and that some features need to be further explored, such as thermodynamics. It was also noted an expressive amount of studies involving the use of ICT in teacher training proposals, which can contribute to the enlargement of the methodological options of teachers and meet their training needs.; http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-7941.2014v31n1p167Neste trabalho...

http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1981-1322.2014v9nespp146This text deals with a survey conducted as monography, at the Federal University of Uberlândia, Pontal Campus, in which we investigated some works that have used information and communication technologies (ICT), more specifically the computer, to the development of Mathematical Modeling projects. Our intention was to verify the possible contributions that ICT had to develop modeling jobs. Highlight the qualitative research methodology selected, through reading the abstracts and keywords, some work in virtual page of the reference center of mathematical modeling in teaching (CREMM), then it can be studied in its entirety. All selected works dealing with the teaching of mathematics in basic education. Reviewed nine studies that deal with the use of mathematical modeling, computer and its possible relationships and from reading of selected works fill in a registration form for each of them. When developing the analytical exercise of these texts, by means of theoretical-methodological lens, that we adopt, it was possible to create categories that allowed us to verify thatthese contributions can be perceived in two distinct modes: explicit contributions (those that the author of the work presents along with their considerations); and the implied contributions (those we have identified through a brainstorming exercise).; http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1981-1322.2014v9nespp146Este texto versa sobre uma pesquisa realizada como Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso...
