Nesse sentido...

For this, the thesis will use the line-critical methodology, and research the type-legal and historical literature. The way to exercise citizenship in the public sphere is extremely important for the conduct of relations between human beings and their fellow citizens, and can contribute to reducing social inequalities and social exclusion. And during each historical period, techniques or technologies of information and communication were not only support for the spread of knowledge, but to bring together groups that had converging interests, be they articulated for the realization of the public, private or common interest. The concentration of these techniques or technologies by a small group of society causes imbalance in the social life, since it is the latent power of manipulation that accompanies the use of these means of transmission of the language.; O objetivo da presente dissertação é analisar os impactos da utilização das novas tecnologias de informação e comunicação para o processo democrático...

Urban poverty is a complex socio-economic problem. The expected doubling of the urban population relative to rural areas by 2050 without a corresponding economic and infrastructure growth will worsen the problem, especially in emerging economies. Poor urban residents face rising unemployment and underemployment, constrained access to financial services, market exploitation, poor housing, crime, unsatisfactory health services and scant education opportunities. Several players have attempted to address these problems through information and communication technologies. This paper isolated a few of these to determine critical success factors on the economic empowerment front.

In this summary report and a series of country case studies, infoDev is exploring the transformative role that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can have in post-conflict nations during the process of reconstruction. The case studies look at countries at different stages of post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan, Liberia, Rwanda and Timor-Leste, and post-revolution in Tunisia. The report examines how policy-makers, the donor community, and the private sector have prioritized and sequenced ICT initiatives in the aftermath of conflict. In addition, the report proposes a conceptual framework to understand how ICTs can contribute to improving service delivery and assisting with nation-building. The opening chapter of the report gives an overview of the relationship between conflict, reconstruction and the role of ICTs. It builds on experience within the Bank as well as on a wide range of practitioner, academic and other literature. The second chapter seeks to establish a framework for understanding the ways in which ICTs interact with societies in transition from violence to stability, and for leveraging their potential to further that transition. The roots of this lie in understanding two fields of study...

The integration of Information and communication technologies (ICT) requires the teachers to be competent, both technologically and pedagogically. In this work, the competences in ICT of teachers are studied, in particular the relationship between the technological competences and the pedagogical competences. For it, it has been used a survey design and a sample, randomly selected, of the non university teachers of the Comunidad Valenciana, to those that have been applied a questionnaire. It has found a significant relationship between technological competences and pedagogical competences in the sense that the former represent both a base as a facilitator of the latter. This means that the teachers must know the TIC to integrate them in their daily practice. However, both the relationship and its structure should not be simplified.; La integración de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC) requiere que el profesorado sea competente, tanto desde el punto de vista tecnológico como pedagógico. Nowadays, e-learning, teleformation, or training based on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), play a fundamental role in the improvement of the learning processes that is taking place at the Universities. On the one hand, the incorporation of the ICT in a face-to-face, distance or blended modality and, on the other hand, the European convergence process, have influenced on the change and improvement of the institution, in general, and the teaching leaming process developed in Higher Education, in particular. Nevertheless, it could be necessary to remark that the basic objective is to improve the attention of the users (in our case, students of Education Sciences). Another important aim is to optimize the resources based on Internet. But, mainly, in order to promote innovating processes which simplify and make agile not only the work of the teaching staff and students but also the communication among them. The purpose of this paper is to find out if pre-service teachers prefer a virtual modality during the Practicum period, when they finish their studies on Education.

The main aim of this study is to contribute knowledge about the impact of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) on the self-concept, mood, and quality of life of institutionalized older adults in retirement homes and day care centers (Portuguese institutions). It also studies the influence of independent variables such as age; education; referral to the institution (own initiative, indicated by friends, indicated by family, indicated by social security); attendance schedule; and visits from family and friends. The study comprised 41 participants organized into two groups: 22 older adults in the ICT Group and 19 older adults in the Passive Control Group. There were three evaluation periods: before the onset of intervention and 11 and 22 months after intervention began. The results demonstrate that involvement with information and communication technologies produced positive effects on older adults’ social behavior and their self-perception of physical and environment facets of quality of life. Moreover, they suggest that there is a relationship between psychosocial variables and independent variables.

We live in a socio-cultural, informational and technological context that poses new educational challenges for society in general but above all for children. In this paper, we present a proposal that should help to maximise the capacity of children to face the challenges presented by today's society. We draw attention to the fact that in an age of information technology such as ours, children as a group risk marginalization. The children's bill of rights in the XXI century needs to build on those drawn up in the XX century and should be extended to include those rights that safeguard life styles and living conditions and a child's right to play and learn, in keeping with the specific conditions of the XXI century. To this end, we frame a proposal concerning the rights of children in a society increasingly dominated by information and communication technologies. Throughout Europe, there is much current debate about children's rights linked with mass media and information and communication technologies. We describe several projects that offer hope for the promotion of greater responsibility on the part of the mass media given their pervasive ability to shape thinking, projects that may help to mitigate the influence of the media, including information and communication technologies on children.

This study aimed at verifying the use of social networks by Brazilian university students that belong to the Internet Generation (IG), as well as setting the profile of this generation concerning the use of the Digital Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Thus, a descriptive research, using the data collection technique via web was carried out. The sample was composed by 928 students from different graduation courses all over Brazil, including the greatest areas of knowledge. An investigative questionnaire was used, having an encoded link to the research sent to the students by e-mail. The results showed that the social networks are the modus operandi of the IG. Most of these individuals use at least two social networks with a daily frequency of some academic activities, of leisure and work. The essential condition for this Internet Generation is to be connected. The engagement of the generation in Brazil in political and civic issues as well as in socializing is still poor when compared to the possibilities offered by the ICTs present in social networks.; http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1807-9288.2014v10n1p4Este estudo procurou verificar a utilização das redes sociais pelos universitários brasileiros, considerados pertencentes à Geração Internet (GI)...
