In this work it is presented a research developed in the initial training of teachers of the chemistry graduation course at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). The intervention was realized in two classes in the context of a discipline in the curricular structure with nineteen undergraduate students of chemistry. The study utilizes characteristics of the qualitative approach and uses observation, questionnaires, interviews and examination papers. The experiment involved a sequence of activities fundamented on the Problem Solving (PS) teaching strategy to approach chemical concepts. The proposal was planned and organized according to the theoretical presupposition of the work developed by the authors of the Science Education in PS, of teaching experience and from the initial hypotheses of the research. The goal was that the future teachers could experience the strategy and advance to the new meanings. The themes addressed in the activities were the difference between exercises and problems, exercises turning into problems, the steps of problem solving and some implications of the teaching strategy for the work of the teacher. The results showed evidence that through a process of collective reflection, and from the difficulties experienced in the strategy practice...

This study aimed to analyze the effect of a saline solution on growth and chemical composition of Atriplex nummularia, shrubby plant, absorbing salts used in the diet of animals and the management of water and saline soils. These plant seedlings were planted and grown in a reserved area at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. The plantation was divided into two blocks, in which one of them was irrigated with saline solution with a concentration of 2840 mgL-1 of NaCl and the second group was irrigated with drinking water. After six months, the plants were collected, harvested and divided into three parts: leaf, thin and thick stem. Monthly, dimension measurements were carried out for cataloging the growth of Atriplex. Ion Chromatography (IC) and Optical Emission Spectroscopy Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-OES) were used to analyze the chemical composition of the partition plant parts. The results of these analyses revealed that an absorption process of anions and cations by Atriplex nummularia plant during its growth was achieved, in particular by a higher concentration of sodium and chloride ions. Scanning electron microscopy images showed and confirmed the presence of small crystals on the leaf surface. Electrical conductivity and pH measurements of the aerial parts of the plant were carried out and these results showed that the leaf is the plant part where there is a largest concentration of ions. In addition...

In this work, electrochemical technology was used to treat synthetic wastewater containing Methyl Red (MR) and Blue Novacron (BN) by anodic oxidation using anodes platinum (Pt) and real samples of textile effluents using DDB anodes and platinum (Pt). The removal of color from the galvanostatic electrolysis of synthetic wastewater MR and BN, and the actual sample has been observed under different conditions (different current densities and temperature variation). The investigation of these parameters was performed in order to establish the best conditions for removal of color and chemical oxygen demand (BOD). According to the results obtained in this study, the electrochemical oxidation processes suitable for the degradation process of color and COD in wastewater containing such textile dyes, because the electrocatalytic properties of Pt and BDD anodes consumption energy during the electrochemical oxidation of synthetic solutions AN and MR and real sample, mainly depend on the operating parameters of operation, for example, the synthetic sample of MR, energy consumption rose from 42,00kWhm-3 in 40 mAcm-2 and 25 C to 17,50 kWhm-3 in 40mAcm-2 and 40 C, from the BN went 17,83 kWhm-3 in 40mAcm and 40°C to 14,04 kWhm- 3 in 40mAcm-2 and 40 C (data estimated by the volume of treated effluent). These results clearly indicate the applicability of electrochemical treatment for removing dyes from synthetic solutions and real industrial effluents; Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior; Neste trabalho...

Alkyl polyethoxylates are surfactants widely used in vastly different fields, from oil exploitation to pharmaceutical applications. One of the most interesting characteristics of these surfactants is their ability to form micellar systems with specific geometry, the so-called wormlike micelle. In this work, microemulsions with three distinct compositions (C/T = 40 %, 30 % and 25 %) was used with contain UNITOL / butanol / water / xylene, cosurfactant / surfactante (C/S) ratio equal to 0,5. The microemulsion was characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), capillary viscometry, torque rheometry and surface tensiometry experiments carried out with systems based on xylene, water, butanol (cosurfactant) and nonaethyleneglycolmonododecyl ether (surfactant), with fixed surfactant:cosurfactant:oil composition (with and without oil phase) and varying the overall concentration of the microemulsion. The results showed that a transition from wormlike micelles to nanodrops was characterized by maximum relative viscosity (depending on how relative viscosity was defined), which was connected to maximum effective diameter, determined by DLS. Surface tension suggested that adsorption at the air water interface had a Langmuir character and that the limiting value of the surfactant surface excess was independent of the presence of cosurfactant and xylene. The results of the solubilization of oil sludge and oil recovery with the microemulsion: C/S = 40%...

Nanostructured materials have been spreading successfully over past years due its size and unusual properties, resulting in an exponential growth of research activities devoted to nanoscience and nanotechnology, which has stimulated the search for different methods to control main properties of nanomaterials and make them suitable for applications with high added value. In the late 90 s an alternative and low cost method was proposed from alkaline hydrothermal synthesis of nanotubes. Based on this context, the objective of this work was to prepare different materials based on TiO2 anatase using hydrothermal synthesis method proposed by Kasuga and submit them to an acid wash treatment, in order to check the structural behavior of final samples. They were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), adsorption/desorption of N2, thermal analysis (TG/DTA) and various spectroscopic methods such as absorption spectroscopy in the infrared (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). All the information of characterizations confirmed the complete conversion of anatase TiO2 in nanotubes titanates (TTNT). Observing the influence of acid washing treatment in titanates structure...

The present work has as main objective to contribute to the coordination chemistry of the ligand kojic acid, with the synthesis and characterization of the homoleptic compounds [Al(kj)3], [Fe(kj)3], [Fe(kj)2], [Cu(kj)2] e [Ru(kj)3], and the new heteroleptic complexes, trans- K2[Fe(kj)2(CN)2] and trans-Na2[Ru(kj)2(CN)2]. The obtained compounds were characterized by vibrational spectroscopy in the infrared region (IV) and Electronic spectroscopy in the ultraviolet and visible region (Uv-Vis). The infrared results indicated the coordination of the bidentate ligand kojic acid, due to reductions in the values of the stretching frequencies of the carbonyl and double bonds, compared to the free ligand for all complexes obtained. The presence of new vibrational modes indicated the change of symmetry of the molecules in the new compounds synthesized. Additionally, the presence of vibrational modes assigned to metal-oxygen also contributed to confirm the ligand coordinating to the metal ions. Through this technique, was also possible to perform correlations of the numbers of vibrational modes, in the region 1400-900 cm-1 and the compounds geometry. The heteroleptic compounds exhibited υC≡N in 2065 and 2053 cm-1, respectively, for the trans-K2[Fe(kj)2(CN)2] and trans-Na2[Ru(kj)2(CN)2]...

In this work we developed a Dip Coating method that could control the temperature gradient between a substrate and the material that one wants to adsorb at its surface. In particular, the adsorption of biocompatible magnetic nanoparticles at the surface of bare metal Stents, under different experimental conditions, was investigated. The magnetic nanoparticles consisted of magnetite coated with tripoliphosphate (mean diameter 7.68 nm and standard deviation 1.88 nm) dispersed in water at physiological conditions, while the Stent was a CoCr based-one (Cronus stent from Scitech with 16 mm length). Nine series of experiments were performed where it was controlled parameters as: time of adsorption, stent temperature and magnetic fluid temperature. The stents coated with nanoparticles were magnetically characterized using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), which allowed us to determine the number of nanoparticles at the stent surface. The increase of the magnetic moment of the stent with the increase of the adsorption time was theoretically modeled, with an excellent experimental agreement, as a transient diffusion process of nanoparticles at the interface stent-magnetic fluid, which clearly indicates an important diffusive contribution. Strong evidences of thermal diffusion (Soret effect)...

A systematic study concerning the crystalline phases in the Bi2O3-rich region of the system Bi2O3-Tb4O7 was made. X-ray powder diffraction method, differential thermal analysis (DTA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used in the study of the obtained crystalline phases. Sixteen samples with composition in the range of 4.21 to 33.33 mol% of Tb4O7 were synthesized at 800oC by solid state reaction synthesis. Three distinct crystalline phases were initially identified: a tetragonal phase in the composition range of 4.21 to 5.69 mol% of Tb4O7, a cubic phase for compositions between 6.12 and 29.03 mol% of Tb4O7, and a monoclinic one with 33.33 mol% of Tb4O7. The thermal stability of these compositions was rigorously investigated and the results shown that they are metastable phases in almost all studied range. Under thermal annealing at 500oC, tetragonal phase undergoes decomposition into two phases, monoclinic and rhombohedral ones. The cubic phase, under the same thermal annealing, decomposes partially into a rhombohedral one, except for the interval between 25.0 and 29.1 mol% of Tb4O7. In this case, there was not decomposition under thermal annealing at 500oC during 373 hours, suggesting the cubic phase is stable in this composition range. The monoclinic phase was also tested concerning its thermal stability...

This work can appears like a proposal for reflections in education by chemistry in basic training, the use of playful activities as teaching resource and student engagement in the chemistry study. It can to promote a development of the play culture in the school and from school. The teacher can propose partnership and involvement of students to develop of autonomy and self-knowledge through participation in education self process. It can be a good alternative to students and teachers, when they intentionally work together to build norms and rules that should govern their actions in playgames, or games that the students participate together for a invention of theirs freedom (legaliberté) of action in the classroom through the rules of law that guarantees and serve the educational process. The teacher provides fundamental knowledge relevant to the playfulness and search experience with theirs students and build a pact of playfulness. The playfulness lived in the classroom and in activities of daily life, we believe that this can server to produce of a playgames culture, which considers the playful freedom and this legality, as a means of working the autonomy, the moral and intellectual development of students through education in chemistry. The intensification of dialogical processes and increasing intersubjectivity are seen as a stimulus to the study and understanding of the phenomena being studied. Those processes are seen as a stimulus to the study and to understand the phenomena that we are studying. Chemistry students in the basic training or professional education were challenged to participate and be involved with enthusiasm...

This work describes the design of experiments and response surface methodology (RSM) via factorial designs programmed in PlanEx, a new web/online software implemented using the Java language. The goal was to develop and validate PlanEx as a simple, efficient, and an interactive tool for undergraduate teaching and research. PlanEx was also designed as a free software, and the Java language was chosen since it is a community-developed open source software. PlanEx provides both full factorial design of experiments (2k) and fractional (2k-1), with up to six variables, and with, or without, replicates. PlanEx was also developed to perform variable screening through replicates, and normal probability plots and also to evaluate the model bias by the residual graphs. PlanEx is based on RSM with up to four variables at three levels, and central points with, or without, replicates. Through RSM the user can check linear or quadratic models to predict experimental responses through 3D surface plots, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). PlanEx was also evaluated in the second term of 2009, 2010, and 2011 in graduate courses of planning and design of experiments. The results have shown that PlanEx is fast, and interactive, and it is a simple design of experiment tool for both teaching and research.; Esta Tese apresenta o software PlanEx que contém as ferramentas do planejamento de experimentos fatorial escritas em linguagem de programação Java. O objetivo do trabalho foi desenvolver o software PlanEx e validá-lo como uma ferramenta de ensino e pesquisa simples...

Foliar contents of total phenols and tannins and the essential oil composition of Myrciaria cauliflora populations cultivated in six sampling sites have shown the presence of four clusters related to soil types and foliar nutrients. Cluster I included samples which originated from sandy soil (S1) with the highest and lowest percentages of γ-eudesmol (11.55%) and germacrene D (20.48%), respectively, as well as high total phenol (136.68 mg/g) and tannin (60.72 mg/g) contents. Cluster II, rich in elemol (4.61%), included all the samples cultivated from clay sand loam soils (S2, S3, and S6), whereas clay soils S4 (cluster III) and S5 (cluster IV) had the highest amounts of germacrene D (III: 27.20%; IV: 26.83%) and the lowest levels of elemol (2.12%; 2.55%), total phenols (79.69 and 111.77 mg/g), and tannins (34.04 and 44.51 mg/g). Canonical redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed the relationship between chemical balances in the soil and leaf nutrients in different clusters. Chemovariations may be environmentally determined. Additionally, essential oil chemical composition and phenolics (total phenols, tannins, anthocyanins), reducing sugar and fruit acidity contents of Myrciaria cauliflora were obtained from same cultivated populations. RDA and discriminant analyses revealed four clusters of samples based on contents of α-copaene...

We establish which the initial value problem ∂tu - ∂²x u - ½(∂xu)² - µ(1-∂²x) - ½u = 0, x Є [-π, π], t > 0 u(.,0) = ø, 2 π - periódica it is a the Cauchy problem locally well-posed.; Nesta dissertação deduzimos uma equação de evolução não-linear que modela a propagação vertical de frentes de reação em química. Também resolvemos o problema devalor inicial ∂tu - ∂²x u - ½(∂xu)² - µ(1-∂²x) - ½u = 0, x Є [-π, π], t > 0 u(.,0) = ø, 2 π - periódica Demonstrando a boa-postura do Problema de Cauchy, localmente no tempo.

With the development of this research we seek to investigate the relationships and interactions between constituent elements of the pedagogical courses projects (PPC) of Chemistry Teachers Training Courses in the Goiás state, Brazil. We used as a research method discursive textual analysis aimed at fragmenting documents examined in units of analysis, relations between units in the categorization process and build a new text that presents the new understandings of the phenomenon studied. We question whether, in the documents, the relationships and interactions established enable or provide a training that includes the current guidelines for teacher training. Identified positivist conceptions about the vision of science, lack of clarity regarding the professional profile to be formed and found the identity crisis of the university when you try to justify their actions relating to the needs of the labor market. We analyze the contradictions in relation to issues of interdisciplinarity, training by research and through use of information technology and communication. We study in detail the PPC in Chemistry Teachers Training Courses, re-designed our views and we give as a subject/researcher/teacher in a process of continuing education teacher's own trainer. This change enabled us to participate in the drafting of a new PPC seeking help to produce a document that had minimized the contradictions perceived by us on other PPC. We therefore propose that the conscious participation in the construction and preparation of PPC requires the understanding of the intentions of which are governed these documents constituted as drivers of the paths chosen for the implementation of the pedagogical and identity of a stroke; Com o desenvolvimento desta pesquisa buscamos investigar as relações e interações entre os elementos constituintes dos projetos pedagógicos de cursos (PPC) de Licenciatura em Química no estado de Goiás.
