The production of hybrid rice seeds in the state of Roraima takes place in two crops per year. About 70% of which is held between the months October to March the following year, called the summer crop, and the remaining 30% occur in the winter season (April to September of that year). Yields of winter of 2009, 2010 and 2011 were limited by the occurrence of shelled seeds in open fields to produce the Hybrid rice seeds, cultivar Avaxi CL. The objective of this study was to survey the occurrence of seeds in shell open in the three growing seasons of winter and their problems in losses in seed processing and seed quality. Data were presented on the loads of trucks coming from the seed production fields. The procedures for obtaining samples and the sampling intensity were performed in accordance with Rules for Seed Analysis. The data of the percentage of open shelled seeds was systematized by the truck loads of seeds, depending on the time of seed harvest and according to the different areas used for seed production. Data were also taken for germination of seed lots produced and thousand seed weight. Yields were low harvests in 2009, 2010 and 2011, for this season, in relation to productivity typically observed in summer crops. The correct planning of all steps involved in seed production, particularly post-harvest, is extremely important for maintaining a company in a competitive market. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of processes related to wheat seed production, from the field to the final commercialization of seeds of a producer with self-certification, from Paran?? State, in the period of 2006 - 2010. The study was conducted in a company of S??o Sebasti??o da Amoreira, Paran??. The amount of wheat seeds received by the Seed Processing Unit, seeds processed, seeds approved for sale and seeds sold were recorded and analyzed for each cultivar processed by the company. On average, the company discarded 30% of all seeds processed; therefore only 70% of seeds processed were effectively sold as seeds. It is important for the company to do a market survey in order to know the customer demand for each cultivar, before sowing the field, in order to minimize losses due to lack of market demand. Due to the great importance of soybean in Brazilian agriculture generating frontiers and increasing exportations, the use of quality seeds becomes a fundamental necessity, since this insume carries the desirable characters that result in higher productivity each harvest. This study case has the objective of evaluating losses in the soybean seed production of Sementes Petrovina Company, located in the state of Mato Grosso, during different steps of seed conditioning. Data were collected from discharges of pre-cleaning, post-cleaning, spirals separator, and gravity table of 3 cultivars, comparing/contrasting the results of 4 different crops. Data vary from crop to crop inside each cultivar mainly in relation to the discharge generated by the spirals separator, which is attributed to the form of the seeds, and the cultivar development during the rain period of each crop. The spirals separator was responsive for the largest fraction of discharge, representing half of the total discharge originated by the cultivar. It was conducted three research projects aimed at better understanding of the effect of aluminum silicate on yield and quality of soybean seeds as a source of silicon in the mineral nutrition and plant protection. In the first study was evaluated the effect of five doses of aluminum silicate applied via foliar as a source of silicon in the mineral nutrition acting on the yield and quality of soybean seeds produced in Arroio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In the second study was evaluated the effect of different doses of aluminum silicate, silicon source, applied to the soil and leaves in yield components of soybean seeds produced in San Lorenzo, Paraguay. And the third experiment was evaluated the effect of different doses and aluminum silicate, applied via foliar and soil as a source of silicon in the mineral nutrition and plant protection, acting as seeds produced in San Lorenzo, Paraguay. The results obtained in the three studies showed that aluminum silicate applied foliar or soil had no effect on yield components. The objective of the present study was to analyze the efficiency of wheat seed production and conditioning at the Sementes Estrela seed company located in the Erechim county, RS state, Brazil, during 2006/07, 2007/08 and 2008/09 crop seasons. Data of area and volume registered for seed production, receiving, conditioning and aprovation, germination and comercialization of wheat seed lots. Cultivars studied were: Abalone; Safira; Alcover; Pampeano; Onix; Quartzo; Marfim; BRS Timbauva; BRS Guamirim; BRS 208; Fundacep Nova Era; Fundacep 52; Fundacep Cristalino e Fundacep Raizes. The results shown that wheat seed production at Sementes Estrela represents 3.87% of the state of Rio Grande do Sul production. There is a difference between registered volume and volume received of wheat seeds of about 15%. The efficiency of wheat seed conditioning is increasing each crop season, being the seed loss of about 22%. In the last two crop seasons the wheat seed conditioned and approved is 100%. Germination of approved seed lots is above the standard stablished by the seed company in all crop seasons. The products to be applied in the disinfestation of seed shall provide sufficient protection to seed as much as the seedlings in the field, keeping the fungi, insects and nematodes properly controlled. The objective of this study was to investigate the possible effect immediate and latent product Avicta Complete?? Pack (with fungicide, insecticide and nematicide action) on the physiological quality of hybrid maize seed. Was used six hybrids from Pioneer Company: 30K73, 30F35, 30F80, 30K75, 30R50 and 32R22. The seeds were submitted to the following health treatments: 1) control, 2) Avicta Complete??, 3) overdose Avicta Complete?? 100%, and then stored at room temperature and cold chamber (100 C and 60% RH) for 350 days. The evaluations were performed at 50, 150, 250 and 350 days, and the characteristics evaluated: germination, cold test and accelerated aging. Assays were performed at the Laboratory of Seeds of Tropical Breeding and Genetics Company and the data were subjected to statistical analysis using the statistical program Sisvar?? (FERREIRA, 2000). The preparation of human resources is the main challenge to the implementation of security system, so the managers of the Seed Conditioning Plants, as well as hand-to-work training in the universities should be properly sensitized on the subject. The objective of this study was to compound a diagnosis of the conditions of work safety in the conditioning of soybean seeds in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Firstly, it was done a survey on the perception of safety in Seed Conditioning Plants among the professionals who are in training and managers. The profile of the seed plants studied, about job security, shows that 64% have between 1 and 50 employees, 71% have between 1 and 10 machines circulating within the units and 35% have between 5 and 10 silos. Regarding accidents, 36 % of all interviewed units, confirmed the existence of occupational accidents in the last three years. About official inspection, 64% said they have been inspected by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, at least once. There is a concern about the existence of CIPA, which are active in 59 % of the establishments surveyed. The disposable information about small seeds, include tobacco, especially about the perform densimetric table, it haven t been contemplate to literature. The present work was carried through with the objective to verify the perform tobacco seeds process in densimetric table. The seeds had initially been clean in air machine. The terminal axle of discharge of the densimetric table of width 50 cm was dividend in five parts: low with 9 cm, low and high intermediate each with 13 cm, high with 15 cm and discharge going out stone with 3 cm. The treatments had constituted of the fraction gotten in the feeding deposit and of the five parts discharged each part of the discharge. This work comprised two studies, the first involved seven combinations of the densimetric table regulations and the second seven tobacco cultivars. Tobacco seeds discharged on the high fraction in densimetric table discharge zone presents superior physiological quality as that seeds in the low fraction. Soybean is by far the most important crop in Brazil, occupying the largest area and leading the exports from the agriculture sector. The use of high quality seeds is indispensable to achieve high yield potential, and this work aimed at establishing the efficiency of the different processes that drive seed production, post harvest technology and commerce of soybean seeds from a producer in the state of Paran??. The case study was undertaken at the Guerra seed company, located in the county of Pato Branco, state of Paran??. Besides growing its own seed produce, this grower manages also seed multiplication contracts for Syngenta Seeds, specifically for the cultivars NK412113 and NK8350. The data base for this study, which covers the period 2001 to 2006 was composed of: 1-Area grown to seed production; 2- Area not approved for seed production; 3- Gross seed produce; 4- Quantity of clean, graded seed; 5- Quantity of seed approved for market release, and 6- Quantity of traded seed. Regarding the area grown to the crop and its harvest as seed, the percentage area approved for seed production was calculated; likewise for the quantity of gross seed harvested in relation to that effectively processed and the quantity finally approved for market release and that effectively realized. The objective of this paper was to evaluate seed coating of soybean seed using equipment for treatment with spray system Grazmec??. The treatments applied with the equipment were: 1) control, 2) fungicide, 3) amino acid, 4) polymer, 5) fungicide + amino acid, 6) fungicide + insecticide, 7) fungicide + polymer, 8) fungicide + insecticide + polymer, 9) fungicide + amino acid + insecticide. The evaluation of the spray system was followed by moisture content determination, weight of 1000 seeds and coverage. Also field emergence was evaluated. The seed quality evaluations were followed by germination, vigor, dry matter of plants and seed health. The seeds were storage for six months and evaluations were done every 60 days. The results shows that soybean seed moisture content was 1% lower with the treatment; the field emergence and weight of 1000 seeds were no affected by treatment; when the change of product and/or seed the equipment should regulated for a coating good. This research had the objective to evaluate soybean seed coating over with potassium source and doses and chemical protectants. Performance and quality evaluations were done in a greenhouse: 15-day emergence value, emergence speed index, number of pods, number and weight of seeds, foliar area and dry weight. Laboratory determinations included: germination, accelerated ageing, cold test, total seedling length and length aerial mass and radicle (two periods, i.e. after harvesting and after one year storage); and the Blotter Test for fungus. The experimental design used for the greenhouse experiment was completely randomized blocks, while for the laboratory a completely randomized design was employed. Comparisons of means between treatments were tested through the Duncan test at a 5% probability value. Results allow the following conclusions: soybean seed coating with fungicide, insecticide, micronutrients and polymer can increase soybean seed yields in even 20%; soybean seed coating with fungicide, insecticide and micronutrients did not affect seed vigor; seed treating and coating with polymer was efficient in reducing fungus incidence; seed coating with Potassium Chlorate can increase soybean seed yield in even 20%; soybean seed coating with potassium solution + polymer increased its performance; the positive effect seed coating with potassium is a function of the level of soil fertility and potassium dosage and source.; O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho de sementes recobertas de soja com fontes e doses de pot??ssio e produtos protetores. Ranked second world producer, Brazil has the highest soybean plantation area in grain cultivated land. This fact is especially true on the arrival of transgenic seeds which introduces genes from different species of soybean into its genome. Seed quality, an extremely important item, may be affected by different factors which may occur before and after harvest, and during all the production stages, such as drying, industrialization, storing, transport and sowing. Current research evaluates commercialization of soybean seed at the Coamo Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative of Campo Mour??o PR Brazil with regard to the product s processing and the efficiency of the quality process in seed production. Quality and quantity data on the case study refer to seed production in the years 2004 - 2005, 2005 - 2006 and the 2006 2007 harvest. Results show that cleaning processing and total seed usage indicated growth between 2004 - 2005 and 2006 - 2007, respectively, from 59.41% and 45.69% to 69.79% and 64.82%. A higher percentage of transgenically modified cultivars (RR) occurred in seed production during the 2004 2005 harvest. Varieties represented 11.67% of total processed seeds which reached 42.68% in the 2006 2007 harvest. The objective of the present study was to analyze the efficiency of soybean seed production and conditioning at the COAMO, unit of the Santo Antonio, city of Mangueirinha Paran?? state, Brazil during a period of five years (2003/2004 to 2007/2008). The efficiency of the company was detached in all phases of the process of soybean seed production. The historical series and referring information to the enrolled area was analyzed according to: approved area, forecast of receiving, act of receiving, improvement of received seeds, seeds analyzed by the laboratory, the percentage of seeds refused in function of the reprobation factors: germination, physical purity and varietal purity, seeds approved as five intervals of germination percentage, the percentage of participation by group of maturation, and the percentage of participation of the obtainors companies. The results show high efficiency in the percentage of approval of the enrolled area, with average of 97,9 % of approval in the period. The efficiency of the receiving act in percentage resulted in an average of 100,4%; the improvement of conditioning in the period was 75,9%; in relation to seeds analyzed by the laboratory the approval index was of 90,5%; the percentage of seeds disapproved in function of the reprobation factors pointed out that 7.1% of the seed produced and analyzed by the laboratory are disapproved by germination and 2.4% are for varietal purity; in relation to germination 33.6% of the produced seed were approved with percentage of germination above 90%...

Seed coating is a strong technology for soybean seeds, bringing great advantages to the farmers, allowing the application of polymers in an appropriate and necessary way to cover the seed. The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of seed coating and the quality of soybean seeds treated with fungicide, insecticide, micronutrients and polymers, during six months of storage. Soybean seeds cultivar CD 209 were submitted to the following treatments: control, fungicide Fludioxonil + Metalaxyl - M (Maxim XL?? - 100 mL.100 kg-1 seeds), insecticide Thiametoxan (Cruiser 350 FS?? - 200 mL.100 kg-1 seeds), micronutrient ComoFix?? (165 mL.100 kg-1 seeds - 24,75 mL Mo and 2,475 mL Co) and the mixture fungicide + insecticide + micronutrient. The same treatments were repeated using the liquid polymer Sepiret 9241 B Green (400 mL.100 kg-1 seed) and also powder polymer Sepiret Flo Branco (0,5 kg.100 kg-1 seeds) + colorant Corasem blue (50 mL.100 kg-1 seeds). Coating efficiency and physical and physiological seed quality in laboratory and seedling performance in the field were evaluated. It was concluded that: the use of polymer in seed coating presents seeds with good appearance, coloration, distribution and adherence of the products to the seed surface; uniformity of product distribution during seed treatment varies with the interaction between product and type of polymer used. Coating with liquid polymer is more efficient in soybean seeds. The use of polymers alters the hectolitre volumetric weight not affecting the physiologic quality. Rio Grande do Sul, which produces a variety of crops being the important cereal rice sown in spring / summer and wheat and barley with high potential for cultivation in the autumn / winter. The state accounts for the increased production of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Brazil, with an acreage of about one million hectares per year. The wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is intended for grain production, which are processed into flour for the bakery and pasta, the culture of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is intended for grain production, which are transformed malt in the brewing industry. The use of silicon has the potential to reduce the use of agrochemicals and increase productivity through balanced nutrition and physiologically more efficient. Silicate clay is a whitish powder contains 77.9% SiO2 at pH 5.5. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological quality, seed yield in the field of grain treated with silicate clay as a source of silicon. We used two foliar treatments with four applications and on the ground with three doses were: T1 360 kg ha ˉ ??, T2 720 kg ha ˉ ?? in four foliar applications on vegetative stages V4, V9 and reproductive R2 and R6 and at sowing T3 360 kg ha ˉ ??, 720 kg ha T4 and T5 ˉ ?? zero. The aeration of soybean seeds with cold air has been used in several decades, and its benefits in maintaining quality are well known. Recently, the aeration with cold air produced by cooling units is gaining acceptance, particularly in regions where the aeration with cold ambient air is not possible. The chill of soybean seeds with naturally or artificially produced cold air is a very important step for maintaining the physiological quality of seeds. Despite its benefits within the process of seed production, the potential and flexibility of the cold treatment of seed has not been fully exploited by seed makers. The objective of this work is evaluate the effects of aeration with air conditioning on physiological quality of soybean seeds after a period of conventional storage. The study was conducted at COODETEC in Cascavel - Paran??, with the cultivar CD 212RR. In this work, a portion of 73 bags was cooled for 53 minutes with cold air inflation to reach 15 ?? C using a cooling unit. Another portion of 67 bags were stored without the cooling process. Both portions were stored for eight months in two separate blocks, but under the same environmental conditions. The objective of this work was to evaluate the quality and the yield compounds of seed of rice when different levels of phosphorus are applied to the soil. The utilization of rock phosphates as source of phosphorus on rice crop has been a growing recommendation, considering the low availability of phosphorus in the system. Besides the majority of bibliographies do not report any effect on grain yield with higher levels of phosphorus in the soil, there is no information on how the seeds of flooding rice behave with respect to the quality and components of production under these conditions. The soil was prepared in the conventional method and fertilized before sowing according the analysis recommendation of soil (55kg.ha-1 of K2O in form of KCl) and phosphorus in form of rock phosphate in the levels: zero, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90kg.ha-1 of P2O5 and 90kg.ha-1 of nitrogen in surface dressing in form of urea in two times. It was used cv. BRS Quer??ncia in sowing density of 90kg.ha-1 of viable seeds, sowed on November, 23, 2007. The seed treatment has been widely used in agronomy, since this practice is considered an instrument of control of pests and diseases, as well as an alternative to higher productivity. Thus, it becomes very relevant, because it is linked to the quality, vigor and germination. These attributes can allow the high development of a productive crop. This study aims to evaluate the effect of treatment in corn seeds with thiamethoxam, stored after treatment of 180 days under different conditions. It was conducted at the Seed Processing Unit of Biomatrix Company, at Patos de Minas (MG), Brazil. Seeds from three maize hybrids, received the treatment routinely used by the company (Deltamethrin - Decis??, pirimiphos-methyl - Actellic 500 EC?? and Captan). The experimental treatment consisted of using a product based on thiamethoxam (120 mL per 60.000 seeds), combined with storage with and without temperature control. It was evaluated by germination and cold test with soil immediately after treatment and at the 60th, 120th and 180th days of storage. During storage, vigor of corn seeds treated with thiamethoxam is influenced negatively.
