ABSTRACT This study aimed to understand the behavior of three species of the Cerrado in three distinct areas based on the relationship between meteorological conditions and use Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to predict the occurrence of phenological events. The species Caryocar brasiliense, Bowdichia virgilioides and Plathymenia reticulata were selected because of their potential to recover degraded areas and multiproducts. The study locations for seasonality were the cities of Diamantina (DIA), S?o Gon?alo do Rio Preto (SGRP) and Itamarandiba (ITA) and for ANN were DIA and ITA. We selected 12 individuals of each species at each site. The phenological visits were every two weeks between 2008 and 2011 and the were registered phenophases following scale Fournier. Meteorological data were provided by Climatological Stations Main Diamantina and Itamarandiba. For the relationship between the meteorological variables and phenological events used Spearman correlations (rs) and circular statistics to test the occurrence of seasonality. The stages refer to the foliage and the reproductive phases were quantified using the activity index. O avan?o da fronteira agr?cola na Amaz?nia pode acarretar graves impactos ambientais, constituindo a mudan?a no albedo da superf?cie um dos principais for?antes. Avaliou-se, neste trabalho, o albedo da soja (Glycine Max (L.) Merryl), plantada em condi??es naturais de campo, na cidade de Paragominas, PA, regi?o com grande avan?o da fronteira agr?cola na Amaz?nia, e se observou rela??o direta entre o albedo da soja e o seu ?ndice de ?rea foliar, valor m?ximo di?rio variando entre 0,24 e 0,25 associado a um IAF de 7,17 correspondente a 1297,62 graus-dia acumulados. Em termos m?dios, encontrou-se que a o est?dio fenol?gico mais critico da cultura, tendo como base a mudan?a no albedo, ? o est?dio fenol?gico de frutifica??o na qual a mesma apresenta um albedo m?dio m?ximo de 23,3% (? 0,0007). Neste trabalho, avaliou-se o balan?o de energia na cultura soja (Glycine max (L.) Merrill), variedade Tracaj?, durante a safra e entressafra, em uma ?rea de avan?o de fronteira agr?cola na Amaz?nia, por meio do m?todo da raz?o de Bowen. Durante quase todo o ciclo da cultura, maior parte da energia foi consumida na forma de calor latente, principalmente durante as fases de florescimento e frutifica??o. Tal caracter?stica esteve relacionada ? elevada condut?ncia estom?tica foliar da soja e ? disponibilidade de ?gua na regi?o. Pr?ximo ao fim do ciclo ocorreu uma invers?o na parti??o de energia entre os componentes H e LE, quando maior parte da energia foi usada no aquecimento do ar (79% do saldo de radia??o). Temperature is the main climate factor related to induction, maintenance and dormancy release in apple (Malus domestica Borkh.). The inadequate chilling exposure for this species causes the occurrence of budbreak problems, resulting in decrease in yield potential. Thus, the knowledge of physiological principles and environmental factors determining the dormancy phenomenon, especially winter temperature effects, it is necessary for the cultivars efficient selection in a productive region. Similarly cultural practices can be developed and adapted to minimize the problems cause by lack chilling during winter. The budbreak promoters application is one of main management s strategies used to decrease the problems of insufficient winter chilling on temperate fruit trees. The present work aimed to evaluate and characterize the behavior of different peach genotypes submitted to variations of period and type of pruning, in the region of Pelotas, RS. The work was carried out in Pelotas, RS, in an experimental area belonging to Embrapa Clima Temperado (CPACT) during 2009 and 2010 seasons. Two experiments were done: the first one was comprised of a combination among three periods of pruning (Winter pruning WP; winter pruning plus summer pruning WSP; and summer pruning SP) and three genotypes (Cascata 805, Cascata 834 (BRS Kampai) and Cascata 952 (BRS Rubimel), resulting in nine distinct combinations. The second experiment consisted in three types of pruning (short pruning SP; long pruning LP; and no shoot topping NST) and two genotypes (Riograndense and Leonense), resulting in six treatments. In general, the chemical characteristics of the fruits are not affected by the different pruning period, as well as, the fruitset. BRS Rubimel did not show uniformity of yield in the following years when using the summer pruning; however, BRS Kampai had a good yield equilibrium at all pruning date tested. The jambolanum is a tree originating from India and Indonesia, belonging to the family of Mirtaceas. The tree bears fruit during January to May in several Brazilian states. The fruit are small, purpleand involves a single core. The taste of jambolanum not stand out so much because the astringency of the fruit. The consumption of tropical fruit is growing in the last years due to the appeal of nutritional and therapeutic effects. These fruits contain different phytochemicals, many of these exhibit antioxidant properties, especially the tocopherols, carotenoids and phenolic compounds, because its property of reacting with free radicals. Among the phenolic compounds there are the flavonoids that chemically, include anthocyanins and flavonols. The use of quality seeds and the use of products that enable improvement of their performance in the field, are important elements for a high agricultural production. Biostimulants are plant growth substances that can act alone or in comination to promote plant development. Through these substances it is possible to influence many physiological and/or morphological processes such as germination, vegetative growth, flowering, fruiting, senescence and abscission. This interference can occur by the application of these substances on seeds, soil or leaves. In such a way that needs to be absorbed to performance its role. The apple tree is characterized by the different floral structures. Several researches show a relationship between the production and fruit quality and the original fruiting structure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the floral structure and the fruit quality in the cultivars Gala, Fuji and Daiane in the mild climatic conditions in the south of Brazil. Six types of fruiting structures were characterized according to their nature and the bud size: spur of weak bud and spur of vigorous bud, short twig of terminal growth of weak bud and short twig of terminal growth of vigorous bud and long twig of terminal growth of weak spur and vigorous spur. For these different structures, were evaluated characteristics related to the phenological development, like the average dates of each phenological state and the percentage of buds that reached the different phenological phases. Patterns related to the productive potential and the fruit quality were evaluated, like the sprout and fruit set index, bud abortion index and percentage of vegetative buds, leaf area, number of flower per cluster and the length / diameter ratio of the fruits. Blueberry cultivars of rabbiteye group Bluegem, Briteblue, and Woodard are characterized by having low chilling requirement, high vigor and productivity, being able to be produced in region of Southern Brazil. Studies on cultural practices and field performance in blueberry are recent in Brazil. In order to provide more accurated informations to the growers of this fruit crop, experiments were carried out during 2009 and 2010 in a high potential region. The first experiment was carried out in a didactic orchard at the Federal University of Pelotas (Rio Grande do Sul State), and the objective was to study the field behavior of the blueberries propagated by two different techniques. Evaluations on vegetation, production, and fruit quality aspects were done in order to determine the effect of rejuvenation obtained through micropropagation technique. One year-old plants of blueberry, cultivars Bluegem, Briteblue, and Woodard, obtained from micropropagation and semi-hardwood cuttings were used. The peach crop in Brazil is spread from Rio Grande do Sul to Minas Gerais states. It has adapted to different environmental conditions, being cultivated in temperate and sub-tropical zones, since it develops in areas with latitudes between 30?? S and 45?? N. In Rio Grande do Sul, the regions that are outstanding on peach production are: Pelotas; Porto Alegre; and Serra Ga??cha. In the Serra Ga??cha besides peaches for fresh market, are also grown vine grapes and apples. In Porto Alegre, There are peach and plum productions supplying the local market. In Pelotas, most of the peaches produced are for the local industry. However, the canning peaches produced in Pelotas, has worsen the quality and lowered productivity in the last years due to the very variable winter temperature, low chilling hours and severe draught during summer and fall seasons. A way that may contribute for production regularity and to overcome damaging abiotic factors is the right choice of the rootstock. The species of Arecaceae family show great economic importance. They are commercially explored for production of oils, starches, palm heart, waxes and fibers, as well as source of food. There has been little research on this specie, facing a large challenge of finding and improving the access with great potential economic. Insufficient chilling accumulation limits the production of peach in subtropical areas. Comparatively this combined with the wide temperature fluctuation during bud differentiation, through the bloom period and fruit growth and development may cause crop losses. Problems with low productivity in southern Rio Grande do Sul often attributed to the mild winter conditions, however, the environmental conditions especially around bloom period to be critical for optimal yields. In subtropical ??reas temperature oscillations may cause problems during fertilization with subsequent reduction of fruit set and production instability of some peach cultivars. To better understand the effect of high temperatures on flower differentiation, pre-blooming, blooming, fruit set and fruit development and growth observations were made during the stages of bud differentiation, leafing and blooming, which included pollen production and viability, floral morphology, fruit set and the fruit growth and development. Temperature elevation with the tree was obtained by bagging branches with transparent plastic or with transparent plastic bottles. Plants of two low chilling peach cultivars (200 to 300 hours): Granada and Maciel were used in the years of 2003, 2004 and 2005. Conditions of high temperatures during the period of bud differentiation of Granada and Maciel did not promote the formation of double pistils or any morphologic anomalies. Bagging shoots with transparent plastic bags and plastic bottles is a simple and economical way of increasing the temperature on the branches under field conditions. A major limitation to the expansion of the pear culture cultivated under mild winter, as South of Brazil, is the cultivar adaptation. During the winter, the temperature fluctuation and low accumulation of cold have been reported by some authors as cause of floral button abortion. Moreover, the pear fruit satisfactorily when well managed, being the pruning and girdling one of the main fruiting techniques. This work aimed to evaluate the responses by pear cultivars to different cultural practices in order to increase the fruit an production and to evaluate the development of xylem vessels during dormancy. Blueberry cultivars of rabbiteye group Bluegem, Briteblue, and Woodard are characterized by having low chilling requirement, high vigor and productivity, being able to be produced in region of Southern Brazil. Studies on cultural practices and field performance in blueberry are recent in Brazil. In order to provide more accurated informations to the growers of this fruit crop, experiments were carried out during 2009 and 2010 in a high potential region. The first experiment was carried out in a didactic orchard at the Federal University of Pelotas (Rio Grande do Sul State), and the objective was to study the field behavior of the blueberries propagated by two different techniques. Evaluations on vegetation, production, and fruit quality aspects were done in order to determine the effect of rejuvenation obtained through micropropagation technique. One year-old plants of blueberry, cultivars Bluegem, Briteblue, and Woodard, obtained from micropropagation and semi-hardwood cuttings were used. The tung is a temperate deciduous species of the Euphorbiaceae family that needs about 350 to 400 chilling hours to resume growth after winter. This species is cultivated in order to produce oil, which is extracted from seeds by pressing or using solvents. The results of research on this crop in Brazil are few. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate genetic variability in two tung populations in Pelotas, evaluate the yield of commercial plantations in the Serra Ga??cha region and compare methods of vegetative propagation. The observations occurred during growing season 2007/2008, 2008/2009 and 2009/2010. The populations showed variability in yield, earliness and number of female and male flowers. The protected environment changes the meteorological elements in its interior related to the outward environment. The french-beans culture is considered a high risk one, being so sensitive to adverse meteorological conditions. The cultivation in protected environment may become viable the production in South Region under unfavorable year period. Due to the exposed before, the present paper had the aim of verifying whether the microclimate conditions from the protected environment refer to the french-beans culture in autumn period. The protected environment was cultivated with green beans named Macarr??o Baixo , from March to June 2007 period in Pelotas Federal University. A data purchasing system (Microlloger) performed readings through meteorological variable sensors in the interior of the environment. These data were compared to the Agroclimatological Station data in Pelotas (EAPel) - EMBRAPA/UFPel convention. The global solar radiation in the interior of the protected environment was 85,07% averaged from the global solar radiation in exterior as well in 28 days became below the trofic limit for vegetables. The use of a new production system demand to know the behavior of cultures and establish the most appropriate management. It is necessary to understand the relationships that control the operation of the plant, and then understand the way in which these relations are dazzling together to result in final income. The growth dynamic, the fenological characterization and yield components of the red cherry tomato crop (Lycopersicon esculentum var. cerasiforme), cultivated in hydroponic system during summer-autumn 2008 crop season, were studied through two experiments conducted in plastic greenhouse, in the Campus of the Universidade Federal de Pelotas, RS. The first experiment was carried out to study the effect of different levels of ionic concentration of the nutrient solution on growth and yield components of cherry tomato (number of fruits, fruit mean weight and fruit yield). The strawberry cultivar choice is an important factor for the success of the crop. The time crop, yield and quality of the fruits and resistance of diseases are important aspects to consider. In strawberry growing in organic crop system should consider too, that the modern cultivars currently available for the farmers were developed in breeding programs characterized by the use of conventional crop system. Therefore, the cultivars developed from these programs can obtain smaller growth, yield and fruit production in organic crop system. Therefore, the aim of this work was to study the growth, dry mass partitioning and yield of strawberry cultivars in organic crop system. Thus, two trials were conducted. The objective of Trial 1 was to evaluate the border effect on growth of Albion, Aromas, Camarosa and Camino Real strawberry cultivars as well as the dynamics of these cultivars along the crop-season. The objective of Trial 2 was to evaluate the plant density effect (determined by row number per bed 2; 3 and 4, providing densities of 3.51; 5.26 and 7.02 plants m-2, respectively) on the growth of Aromas and Diamante strawberry cultivars. Este trabalho teve como objetivo contribuir para o conhecimento da ecologia da poliniza??o do buriti em ambiente de restinga, no munic?pio de Barreirinhas, Maranh?o, Brasil.
